Ration packs? Good idea, I may have to look into that

People generally go to festivals for a collection of experiences - typical festival days will include food.

Just like when we go on holiday, as well as sunbathing or sight-seeing, we'll find a nice restaurant or two.

When you park, they'll ask you what space you need or if you have an awning so people end up with a socialising space for awning/chairs/bbq outside their van, before the next one is parked on your passenger side.   Same rules as camping apply - meet your neighbours and see what they are like - if they have kids be a bit considerate with music and stuff but it's still very social in the camper fields.

Exactly…

Yes, soon be time to start the irrational rituals. Lucky pants, not walking on cracks in the pavement, repeating mantras, praying to every deity that has ever been prayed to.

OMG - Does that stuff really work ?
And I have been having such trouble getting tickets...
I feel like such a fool now !

More reminders on the Glastonbury socials today about registration… did they delete more registrations that they thought they would in the purge?

I've been wondering lately if we're heading back to the time when it didn't immediately sell out.  This data purge will no doubt have given GFL a very accurate picture of how many people are looking for tickets this year.

Probably trying to reduce complaints regarding the deletion - help people ensure they are registered

It will definitely sell out

Imagine. I'll be happy man if 5th November turns out to be a doddle.

I just don't see it though. I'm expecting yet another bloodbath.

7.3 million people watched Elton 4 months ago compared to 2.5 million who saw Macca.

Its going to be a Siege of Baghdad level of bloodbath.

I reckon they expected some people to miss the deleting registrations info and then there has been confusion over the emails sent out, covering all bases so they can say they've done everything they could once the inevitable complaints come their way on t-day.

One of our group (who has stopped going anyway), despite the messages on the group chat he is still part of, plus the emails the festival has sent out, plus the social media posts, didn't know about the deletion thing.

you can guarantee there will still be complaints from some on the socials that they've not been able to buy tickets due to the registration deletions thing .

Maybe See Tickets will have an automatic response to invalid applications: 'It's your fault, you didn't listen and now you're screwed'

It seems like it might have cleansed a lot of double-registrations and cleared out some dormant ones. I'd love to know how many registrations there were in total. 2 or 3 million? More?

You can apply that to pretty much every aspect of Glastonbury though. It's like me saying "I don't go to the south-east corner, if I wanted dance music, I'd go to a dance music festival".

There's better folk festivals than Avalon, better comedy festivals than T&C, better world music festivals than West Holts, etc.

I think it'll be something like a 4-6 hour sell out. Won't go immediately but when it filters down that you can actually get tickets this year, it'll sell out.

Totally agree with this - loads of festivals do certain aspects better than Glasto, but there's not a better place for festival tapas!

Yeah, same day but I don't think it's going to be a 15-20 minute and done job this year.

It's weird as I used to think I was all smart and clever and different and unique and so if I'm not going to something anymore, doesn't mean others won't.

And I've constantly had that smacked out of me, as it's turned out that actually I'm a fairly decent barometer for average, and I've ended up just doing what many, many other people did too. Still feels egotistical to be "well I'm not trying for tickets this year so demand is sure to be down loads!" though!

I don't think it's that for me, I'll still be there anyway but I just feel that the combination of general inflation, mortgage and rent increases, crowd levels and the perception (from some) that parts of the festival are a bit stale might not make it the same bun fight it usually is.

Just a guess!

I wonder if they had a massive splurge of new registrations which made them splurge a load of people who have historic registrations and give them notice...
