Ben7amin_
Happy to be proven wrong but the pop-punk to emo area of music that I put acts like Avril & Sum 41 in. Dont seem to ever get on the line up at Glastonbury. Can anyone think of any examples of acts like this who have played before?
eatingglitter
I think Jimmy Eat World have played before? No Doubt certainly played in the early 2000s

Yeah you’re right, they don’t, but Avril was always as much as a pop star as she was a pop-punk act. In fact, you could argue she was only dressed up as a pop-punk act to fit in with the current trends - as pop/punk as an act like Busted or McDly. Very different than Sum 41 and the like. Every genre of music gets on the line up at some point.

I managed to find Hoobastank & Panic At The Disco on the 2008 line up Jimmy Eat World 2009 And that's about it But still seems a hugely underrepresented area of music. Anyone any suggest any acts in this area who have played more recently big stages or small???? Edited November 30, 2023 by Ben7amin_
CaledonianGonzo
Emily will be on the lookout for getting women into as many high profile positions as possible - so in Avril's case her genre probably isn't that relevant. She's a popstar more than a punk act.

Even if she does RFP on the 12th though, with Nova on the 15th, she's not going back to the UK between obviously and she's not going to Download imo with one day after so I think Glastonbury have got her. She is not an act to be honest that I would see Download either booking or her seeing it as a prime place for them. The female acts Download books are the likes of Wargasm, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Halestorm, Babymetal, As December Falls and Nova Twins which are nothing like Avril Lavigne. I'm not sure it is fair to call bands like Evanescence and Within Temptation "female acts" when there are male musicians in the bands too. Female fronted rock bands have quite an unusual fan base as the fans are probably 70% female. With male fronted bands I would say it is split fairly evenly. danbailey80
Brand New and Jimmy Eat World played. Love them both. although I should stress these bands are not comparable to Avril. I’d watch avril and think she’s great but she is a pop act, bank of songwriters etc her draw would be massive compared to relatively unknown (to Glasto) emo act Edited November 30, 2023 by danbailey80

efcfanwirral
And on Avril we got our manchester tickets. Selling out Castlefield Bowl that quick isn't a small thing. Glad we got them
Gnomicide
Looks increasingly likely when you see all the dates together (could she make it any more obvious etc.)

Maybe supporting Madonna at BST on the Saturday and then subbing her Sunday?
