Before that I used to get mine from a chap above a bookstore in Orange Grove in Bath who used to wear a massive purple crushed velvet coat...

After than Rival Records in The Corridor in Bath used to do them b4 it went full HMV.

Had a shock in 2004 when we all started to have to get them by redialing the See booking number 100's of times b4 getting though if we were lucky.

Then it all went online and here we are...

Back in 2004 it wasnt See either iirc - it was 'Aloud' tickets or similar...

Aloud, yep, for 2003 and 2004 I think? They eventually got bought out by one of the big boys, might have been TM, and disappeared.

So our group of 6 were just trying Sunday. 2 of our group will now be on holiday- the one going to Thailand is now taking his iPad to try! I have been insisting everyone has double checked their registration is valid - all are insisting they have done so and are annoyed at me keep asking! If anyone’s reg doesn’t work now on  19th then they will just have to lose out.

IIRC - Aloud.com was run by EMAP - Magazine publishers - (who sold up some magazines/franchises to Bauer Media who are listed on the current Aloud.com site). There were strong links to the festival (Queens Head stage/tent had Q magazine branding).

EMAP's publications all referred to Aloud.com as I would imagine it offered them commission/referal fees but I believe would have simply acted as a front end for "Way Ahead" ticket agency in Nottingham which became See/G&T? in 2004? Happy to stand corrected if wrong?

I think it may have been a front end for them at that point, I know it did end up a front end for TM at one point.
Way Ahead is the parent company of See/G & T. Some payments they take still show as this.

Got tickets from 1995  for a few years by sending a cheque and letter to Worthy Farm. When it moved to telephone and dial up internet we still got tickets until the nightmare of 2004 which was the last time we didn’t get tickets until last year!  There are always going to be more people who want tickets than tickets available ( 2008 was anomaly year)

No system is perfect- at least we don’t have to compete with bots, Ticket Master, dynamic pricing, fan pre-sale codes etc

its really just luck these days if we get tickets, and if we do then persistence in re-sales, competitions, volunteering opportunities.

If it’s an old post code that the person lived in when they originally made their registration, is it a problem if they haven’t updated it since??? Can it be changed after getting tickets?

yes it can but now also when the website opens the regs again on Monday I believe . as long as you use whatever postcode is registered

Fascinating stuff - didnt know all that. Yeah, the 2004 sale was unbelievable - something like 12 hours for me sitting there all day in my flat redialling every 5 mins - the phone eqiivalent of F5 today!

Stayed up pretty much all night on the redial button, and periodically trying at work the following day. Also found a backdoor through the company intranet to go online, but had no joy (just like nearly everyone else).
Eventually randomly tried on Good Friday (9 April) and was able to get them.

2004 gave us some great stories though. I got the train up to my parents as they had a landline and I didn’t, and got through on the international number at 1.45am - that was back when the UK sales went through a non-geographic number that was totally overwhelmed, and the international line went to the same operators anyway.

It was this website that put the word out to try the international number( I was tipped off to that by the band blackbud).

Definately the fairest course of action. all of our group of 14 clicked the did the renewal thing, yet when two of them checked their registration on Sunday they didn't have registations anymore. I told them to bombard see tickets and the festival email addresses, we all did, we all sent at least three emails each each day up to earlier didn't have any response, but judging by the statement it looks like we weren't the only ones emailing!!!!!!

Wow really interesting that you could still get them from Worthy Farm in 95!

Well done for following thru to alert them to the problem.

You remember when you used to attend the license review every year Neil? We were all on tenderhooks for a number of years between 2002 and 2004 I think when it was never in the bag until that had been cleared.

So that is another 100000 people that we'll be up against trying for tickets...f**king seetix.

They should have just gone ahead with the sales IMO..

As much as I want a ticket I would imagine the extra number of people who actually resister and go for it will not matter in the grand scheme of things..

However "true" Glastonbury goers who have been f**ked over by the cock up (or could have as we dont know how big the problem was) up deserve an honest shot.
