I support Michael in this tbf. me to - They later said Flea was ill in an interview - but its still absolute unprofessional as f**k - that like a school boy skiving then claiming he was off sick after the fact. There could be a way back in but they would need to make a propper apology to him first.

At his talk on the Acoustic stage in 2019 he said they are not allowed on site even if they get tickets That's nice, but Michael hasn't had a role in booking Pyramid acts in a long time. The only on record quote of his about them (as far as I know) is: "They didn’t turn up. We’re not very forgiving for bands that don’t turn up." ghostdancer1
22 minutes ago, incident said: Michael has outright said that it did. And even before that, there was the story that the festival turned them down in 2005 when they offered to step in for Kylie. Michael says a lot of things. Loads of them turn out to be demonstrably false. I doubt the festival turned them down. Especially with a month's notice to find a headliner. Considering they weren't touring in the first half of 2005 (or barely even gigging at all that year), it's almost certainly a completely bollocks story.

Whether he's directly involved in booking or not, it's unrealistic to think that Emily and Nick would ignore his views when he's got strong negative feelings about a particular act - which he seemingly does in this case.

I was physically there Im repeating something i heard him say in response to the segment of the talk - Shout out acts that you want to see headline. He started this fantastic festival - im sorry aint no way the booking team are gonna disrespect the man who started it by booking them. CaledonianGonzo
True story: Was just walking through London's famous Soho and I got accosted by a German film crew asking me to identify a band from a photo and if I could I'd win a fiver. They showed me a photo of an absolute shitshow of a band all in their pants and wearing comedy noses and wigs and all florescent pants and clown wigs and so on. To my surprise it wasn't actually Fontaines DC but was in fact the The Red Hot Chilli Peppers - but I got the fiver on my second guess.

Seems the bubble has burst on the wee groundswell he had a few years back and he hasn't quite crossed over to the Dylan / Cohen Mojo boomers market the way some thought he would. Coupled with turning off a chunk of his OG fanbase with his reactionary politics it's fair to say he's sliding back into the sort of position where even Other Headliner is a bit of a leg up. He's dug a hole here and there with his opinions, but I honestly didn't think that would seriously impact sales the way it might for other artists. In the case of the Leeds date, it's competing with a Manchester show in close proximity - the two can often canibalise each other. He'll still pull a profit on these gigs, but at the same time, even when he went into arenas in 2017, they weren't necessarily slam-dunk sales outside of London. His Manchester Arena date sold 9,889 on a listed 10,222 capacity - and that was with huge swathes of the upper tier locked off. (A side note, it remains one of the best gigs I've ever witnessed.) When he announced he was doing both, it felt ambitious. But I also do agree that the bubble has burst somewhat compared to the Skeleton Tree-era material and dates. Leeds should likely shift floor and the lower two tiers in the end. That'll be about 8,000 to 8,5000 sales, I think. I can't help feeling that its absence would ensure a Manchester sell-out, but you never know.

That'll be about 8,000 capacity too, give or take? (Going off BMTH having an 8,000 capacity for a lower bowl show there back in 2016, when their tour a year after That's the Spirit flopped quite tragically.) K2SO
Anyone talking about the fact that Miley Cyrus is confirmed to be back rehearsing with her full band?
nectarofthegods
From the looks of Michael at Coldplay last year, sadly I don’t think he has the cognitive ability to veto anyone anymore. Regardless Emily would carry the grudge if RHCP really did piss them about which it sounds they did
