Honestly, if you've got The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Fender for a suitable budget, crack on. Plenty of other places to splash the cash on this bill.

Glastonbury is the sum of its parts -  The press always give them a kicking if they do not get what is deemed a suitable set of headliners - and the daily mail has a problem with it whatever happens.

By the time we depart for the festival next June we will all be mostly double and tripple parked with acts we want to see.   Wasn't into Dua last year. But would have watched any of the other 5 big stage headliners.  As well as a couple of the dance stages.  Ended up working - and lied to myself It was OK cos I was not that bothered about missing Dua -  it was not OK. I was mad jelous not to be out there.

Ha, I'm free from all this pyramid headliner chat / stress really as I don't particularly like any of the ones mentioned, though I'd prefer some over others. I'm just hoping for stuff I like elsewhere - I'm sure it will be fine.

Agreed. He feels like a sub to me at best.

Given he subbed last time and his stock has only risen since, I don't think he'd accept anything lower if offered.

But nor do I think they would offer him anything but Pyramid headliner.

Yeah, understand that. Perhaps it's just because he doesn't really excite me.

Not about the headliners anyway is it! 🙂

He’s almost certainly playing stadiums next summer. Absolutely no reason he’d be anything other than a headliner.

Perhaps I live in a bubble then, I literally know no-one who'd go to see him. As long as someones happy thats all that matters I guess.

the Geordie contingent alone would give him a healthy crowd. And he’s pretty popular with Radio 2 dads as well. All good.

Unfortunately I am in this category, slowly slipping into radio 4 territory

Agreed. Doesn't seem quite right to me. As much as I'd love to see Sam Fender headline, I can't see it next year. Eminem or Rhianna would fit much better, both household names with mass appeal.

I'm afraid Rihanna won't be attending any music festivals unless it's to set up an eyeshadow stand.

More than fair enough. And as you say, always something else cooking elsewhere.

Of the bunch, I'd expect The 1975 to be the most divisive, but they'll still get a crowd that will look fine on the box. (Unless the opposite bookings are obscenely strong.)

Olivia, The 1975 and Sam Fender would be a crazy trio compared to recent years. Way too similar, and not much diversity at all in terms of target audience. That’s coming from someone who would be very happy with each of those artists.

Funnily enough I said the same re diversity and got insulted as a result.

But I agree, there’s no musical diversity there and for that reason I’d be surprised if that’s the headliners

1975 Orod and Sam Fender should be the perfect headliners for my lot (22-24 year olds) - but nobody are that arsed about any of them.

Not sure anyone would make all of us happy but its definitely not these 3. all will be decently attended though, no chance of a SZA repeat

I think we're underestimating the idea that this isn't particularly musically diverse. The 1975 cover a lot of ground on record alone, though granted, it will likely be a straight bat for what they'd play in a Pyramid set.

Not sure they have anything in line with Fender's Springsteen-goes-War-on-Drugs motorik beats.

2016 Adele wasn’t there yet. 2017 Sheeran wasn’t there yet.

While they might not have booked stadiums yet at that point - in both cases they were already both more than big enough that they could have instantly sold out a stadium tour including multiple nights at Wembley.

Indeed, I've got a feeling that Adele announced her Wembley run on the back of the Glastonbury performance.

Where did all the Eminem headlining rumours go? Has that been ruled out?

We're due a big self confirm or two soon now ticket sales are done

The rumour was only ever that the festival had made him an offer. Even at that point the person who brought it to us(@mufcok) said that he didn't expect the offer to be accepted.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but for me The 1975 would headline the Other stage or fill the 8pm slot on the Pyramid.

Just can't see it with the size of slot they command elsewhere across the country, and the size of their tours too.

Yep, it makes sense. I also get that it's all down to perception, because they sell smaller arenas in Spain.
