I don't think the festival can win for me, Olivia would be great for my daughter and was very very good on the other, Sam fender harmless feel good factor but would like another album before headlining, the 1975 isn't for me I don't get the hype but that's fine.

I cant think off another 2 headliners that are around that would be realistic Taylor swift and Eminem would be great but cant see it due to finances and eminem just not wanting to do it.

so i have reached a point where I understand the festival cant win and im good with it

Naturally it can win on one of the other  stages though?

Its not all about the pyramid - that’s the beauty of Glastonbury

I like that the festival is giving British acts an opportunity to step up, I hope it’s Fender and if so I think he will smash it.

Echo this. Two British acts both stepping up to headline, a year after another one did.

Have maintained before that after Dua Lipa, Fender should be the next cab off the rank from the "young British artist" pile if Harry Styles is out of the picture. The 1975 are firmly in the queue there too.

Post history doesn't scream 'in the know'

Don't care so much about that. As long as it doesn't scream "bullshitter".

It's not unusual for someone to get a random piece of info once but not before or after.

Definitely not at all. The beauty of these places is that nuggets pop up all over the shop.

Do we know for sure that he is? New album supposedly imminent.

Likewise Dave was considered a strong shout for next year at one point, god knows what happened to that.

Dave was weirdly being talked about as a sub for this year at one point, which baffled me. That's what stadium expectations potentially do, though also not sure if he has dropped off the tempo significantly.

I remember people saying The 1975 were too small on the basis of them being second on the bill at R+L in 2023, one year after topping it. In both instances, they were late call-ups, so I think that negates it - had they not been drafted for 2022 in the first place, think they could well have been 2023 outright headliners instead of Billie Eilish or The Killers.

I find it hard to believe there won't be a repeat headliner in the trio...
Therefore I think we must consider one of these -  Foo Fighters, Kasabian, maybe even Florence and the machine etc. The Killers, - but actually Stevie Wonder is most-likely the one?

Also - another thought occurring to me - is Madonna out of the question? - I get the feeling that Madonna is an act that actually would benefit from Glastonbury headline slot - she has lost a lot of her 'street cred' over the past decade or so and her personality seems to be someone who wants to remain on top. - she did a free show in Brazil, so she's not against doing shows for low money. perhaps the great pull-out of 2024, was a postponement to 2025?

That being said I think we are looking at

?Fred again? / 1975? - Olivia Rodrigo - Stevie Wonder

(except Stevie Wonder).

Now that is a slight surprise... 😉

We can chat about all headliners in here, but it's more that we tend to get info and/or speculate on Pyramid headliners.

If anybody wants to suggest Park or West Holts toppers, feel free to!

That's the big stumbling block on the main trio we've spent the weekend mulling over. There's usually a repeat headliner somewhere. Think you have to go back to 2014 to find the last time it was a completely new batch of bill-toppers to the farm.

This being said, The Who were a late call-up in 2015. But since then, you've had:

2016: Muse, Coldplay

2017: Radiohead

2019: The Killers, The Cure

2022: Paul McCartney

2023: Arctic Monkeys

2024: Coldplay

Absolutely love to see Florence do it again but feel like her moment has passed, sadly.

Also latest is that Olivia is doing sunday

I've not seen that info, so don't know where it came from.

But just in terms of her other dates, specifically the 2 Manchester shows on the Monday and Tuesday, playing Sunday doesn't make much sense and goes against her usual touring patterns so I'd treat anyone suggesting it with a certain amount of scepticism.
