NorthernSoul52
Yeah, she's engaged to the drummer George Daniel. He also produced a chunk of brat to boot. I don't think we will have had in the same year. Obviously we've had Jay-Z and Beyonce headline in different years.

By some margin her most commercially successful album, and her most critically acclaimed. But I think we'll have a better handle on what a Charli XCX live show looks like come next week, given the US tour was very much a collaborative affair. For me, she's the rung below right now. An Other bill-topper, a Pyramid sub, the lower half of a R+L co-headliner. It's not to say that she doesn't step further up. Maintain the hype and momentum through the fallow year, I can buy her as a credible 2027 option.

Talcroft
Tbf, Brat is a phenomenal album. She has some bangers and has come up 'the right way' - pretty sure I first saw her at glasto around 2009 or 10.
NorthernSoul52
The machine has been absolutely churning behind her. It's done the job - though it definitely helps some of those tracks are as infectious as heck.

Not dismissing it being a full-marks affair! But imagine it probably helped give it a quote-unquote "clubby" feel.

NorthernSoul52
360 is among my tunes of the year so far. Just bubblegum gone dirty. I will say that a lot of the hype for CXCX seems to be her qualities as a lyricist. I think it's more hit-and-miss there - she's very postmodern, in that The 1975 way, but it also can leave it feeling pretty faux-arch to a point. One thing it was not though, is packed out (probably felt it at the front, but was not further back, we walked in easily a few songs in). I haven't listened to one song from this new album, and would be elsewhere, but I think she's an obvious choice to headline based on this past year Edited 1 hour ago by efcfanwirral

Know it is another female headliner in a pool where the festival are determined to do better, but she's a very strong sub or Other bill-topper to me as it stands. But Biffy Clyro would be excellent counter-booking if she did headline. Yeah that's a fair read. I'm mostly going off places like Primavera/Pinkpop. She's got a pretty hefty discography, history with the festival and she is one of the most talked about artists this year. Add to that she's British and female, and it seems like a pretty safeish bet to me. Maybe I'm a bit naive to Fred, because while I'm aware of him being 'massive', I only know one song and in my mind he doesn't have enough heft behind his popularity, if that makes sense. 1975 are inevitable, at some stage. On top of that, Sabrina was the opening act on the Eras tour and some of the Grudge lyrics are said to be dedicated to Taylor. It doesn't sound like they're close. The thing about Charli is that she has always been considered a headliner by the public rather than the industry. The critical acclaim came after Brat. Last year she presented Brat for the first time at Primavera and it was one of those concerts that you keep remembering over the years. The stage on which it was scheduled was too small, perhaps that's why she's the headliner for 2025. At this point she is going to be registered in Barcelona lmao I'd love to see her as a sub at Glasto.
