Absolutely not doubting there's some wee fannies in there who used to troll here. But the Neil Young info comes from someone who leaked fred again at strummerville last year and I know you know Roughboke and BSR are solid sources. You're conflating 2 different things.

That may be the case but the line up rumours aren't being posted on here at the moment so there is no wind up intended. It is all on their site and is stuff they believe. There is no reason to believe their sources are unreliable.

The only way that’s true is if the source is the individual, not the platform. If it’s just the platform, a large dose of salt needs to be taken.

source gave the lineup drop date for 2024 and leaked Fred Again at strummerville 2024. Is that sufficient?

👍Absolutely and I take any line up rumours with a large dose of salt until it's confirmed. For what it's worth, I believe anecdotally that they list their rumours with a source attached and as stated above they are familiar names that once gave us the same rumours.

Disbelieving good sources is partly how this place lost so many in the know users. Do you remember Guns n Roses and roughbloke? The main reason people come on here is to see who is playing before it is announced and the site is offering little in the way of that currently. And any attempt to move discussion towards the latest rumours is shot down instantly.

Disbelieving good sources didn’t have anything to do with how eFests lost in-the-know members. That was due to the previous owner, and I’m pretty sure we agree on that.

 

I’m aware who the knowledgeable posters used to be here and if they post elsewhere now, good for that community. They’ll be missed here and I hope they return.
 

But I disagree that the primary reason people are here is to get ahead of announcements. I think people post (or lurk) to be part of a community; to get exited, and to enjoy the hype. The idea that it’s all about inside info is a bit dated. People just want to feel part of if, imo.

All of the sources generally have a traffic light rating of how likely it looks and it even says who its come from. Far more transparent than the lineup page on here.

Info on The 1975 came from that way too, did it not? Kind of marveling that, with all these big names bandied around - Rihanna, then Stevie Wonder, then Taylor Swift, now Neil Young - they appear to have taken Fred again's slot and held onto it in the merry-go-round.

 

Perhaps them being British has something to do with it. Know there have been years without a homegrown headliner, or attempts at least, but it is very rare.
