I am a fan of Neil Youngs music but in honesty i think it was not a great choice to headline the festival. I saw him last time he headlined ( i was in the field) and although it was great for me - a lot of people didn't hang around. 

 

I know it would be a last chance to see a legend headline but in terms of singalong hits, unfortunately he's no Elton or McCartney or arguably even Stevie wonder or Billy Joel for that matter.

I think the fact they were in talks with Young suggests there isn’t a McCartney/Elton level headliner available. There usually isn’t.

Crazy twist and wonder how Glastonbury now feel about not only comments but the subsequent back peddling and him self confirming what is presumably a headline set, very entitled imo. If the crowd doesn't fill the Pyramid field, I think his ego alone will.

Taken at face value, Neil comes out of this looking like a diva who got his own way. Taken as a plan, it’s plain weird.

My entirely uneducated guess is that the BBC make demands regarding language used and political statements and someone in his camp took this all too literally and it was miscommunicated to Neil.
