those drone shots make the site look stunning .. same for Coldplay ... gives me the feels a bit .... and yeah im sure the odd person left ... was a long set so im sure several bladders couldn't hold out bet the majority returned on the fringes though

I was right at the top for Elton and it barely thinned out at all. Certainly no more than happens at every headline set.

 

I also didn’t enjoy it much personally as I was too far back and feeling rough. But I’m not going to waste time coming up with loads of spurious reasons as to why my subjective take on his set is any more valid than anyone else’s.

I’d agree with that. We headed towards Woodsies after he finished the set jam packed moving at a snails pace with for some unknown reason the crowd singing bohemian rhapsody.

I got a phone call from a trusted mate about 15 minutes into his set. He had gone round to the top of the hill just to have a look at the crowd. He said there’s loads of people leaving the arena. Obviously anyone well into the crowd won’t have been aware of this.

 

Anyway at the end of the day you lot enjoyed Elton, I enjoyed Rudimental and was in the Temple long before you managed to leave Elton

I watched a bit of Alt-J, which was empty, a few songs of QOTSA which was empty. I then walked through an empty market to the back of the Pyramid and watched the second half of the set. It was very difficult to walk through the path by the ice cream vans at the back. I didn’t notice many leaving when I arrived.

Few of my mates saw Sarah Story headline The Glade same time Elton was playing, there were 5 people there when her set began!

Does it really matter what size the crowd was/is, who leaves mid-set for a pee or a beer or whether someone had a better time at another stage 

If your in a crowd infront of the big beautiful pointed one and the artists on the stage are making you feel joyous then nothing matters - everyone has their own moments and that’s why everyone loves Glastonbury 

 

Now let’s talk this years headliners ….😊

Doubt it, haven't they got a thing about only coming back together to do things for the first time (and a couple of regular appearances) like last time Glastonbury headline, this time a show at Wembley.

 

Don't think they're active at all currently a good few years off after get together.

Wild how high and mighty you are about your music tastes on here and you went to see Rudimental over Elton John 🤣

 

Elton was just about the biggest crowd you can get at Glasto, there is no arguing about it. And he was phenomenal.

In the real world, no it does not matter.

In the Efests world it seems to matter to many.

I think it's worth commenting on if someone draws an absolutely gigantic crowd - and likewise if someone comes onstage to tumbleweeds.

 

In the case of the latter - and really in terms of headliners poor SZA is the only ever example - it went viral and doesn't reflect particularly well on the festival if it becomes a regular occurrence.  Acts - particularly from the US - aren't going to want to take a whopping pay cut for a gig that backfires.  

 

However, the vast majority of headliners will fall between the two extremes and that's fine.  Neil Young will.

I think this year will be a year away from the Pyramid headliners for me, my first since 2015. I'm on the fence with Neil Young, that will largely depend on what's on elsewhere.

 

I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Whilst I do love taking in a Pyramid headliner, it'll be an interesting change to be elsewhere each night. Also maybe an opportunity to spend a few hours in the South East corner without trying the horrendous post-headliner entrance and inevitable overcrowdedness when you get in.

 

I've also been incredibly lucky, seeing some of my favourite acts do it in McCartney, Arctic Monkeys x2, as well as seeing the likes of Elton, the Stones, Coldplay, Radiohead, The Cure. Can't have it your own way every year.

Very active on their socials the last couple of days , albeit it could be due to 30th Anniversary release 

would be great though, show Oasis how it’s done before they kick off their tour 

Bring back that 90s rivalry

I actually just came here to throw her name into the ring, as no one else seems to be talking about her as a potential.

Naturally feel free to take this with a heavy pinch of salt, but someone I know is well connected in the music industry etc and, when I saw him the other week, was adamant that Gaga is headlining Glastonbury this year.  He also said that she'd be doing shows in Brazil, which then was confirmed a few days after he told me.  Other tidbits were that her album is called something like 'Theory of Chaos' and that Die With A Smile was going to be on it - again he mentioned this before it was known publicly.

As a huge Gaga fan, I'm very much hoping this is true - though obviously I'm well aware this might not be what people consider to be a reptuable source, so don't shoot the messenger! Just came on here to share what I was told (whether it turns out to be true or not). Usually very much a lurker on here, don't often post at all - but thought it might be worth saying the above.

Unrelatedly, this person I know also told me that Von Dutch by Charli XCX is written about FKA Twigs - because apparently they hate each other. Not relevant to this thread but nonetheless something I found interesting.
