CaledonianGonzo
These days you can't even post "what happened to guitar acts?" underneath a photo of someone wielding a guitar without folk taking it the wrong way.

It does say more about the pricing structure of tickets (£100+ for stadiums, £80 for arenas and so on) when the grass roots venues are closing ten to the dozen. I will always defend Glastonbury because its not just a performing arts festival, its also an experience like no other but its not really £400 is it. Most times my total spend is nearer £1000 than £400. To some people that really is a vast amount of money.

I think the price comparison though like that reflects more on people that are willing to pay the structure involved now than anything. The fact we are still paying that price and getting more and more average lineups vs other acts bands we might want that won't agree to do it for the lesser fee because of what they can earn elsewhere says a lot more about it. A bit like Dua Lipa and many now, Olivia will be a one and done. When you're on tier 3 pricing of BST within 20 minutes and it's only people with Amex cards that could buy that tells you she could have could do 2 easily. DomDom1984
I don't see why not tbh. They're big enough, the festival obviously like them. Don't think they'll play, but really don't think anyone should be shocked if they do.

Though it may still be possible this Oslo show announced today might lead into other Scandinavian concerts. If they're in tonight's Download announcement, that would rule them out. Benjsh
Muse would indeed be very samey as a multi repeat booking. However I'd rather watch Muse any day of the week over Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo but that's just me. I like live bands and rock / indie music far more than Pop. Don't think they will be playing though.

I'd watch Muse if it was an anniversary performance of any of the first 4 albums with a few greatest hits but their output has progressively got worse up until the last album which almost seemed to be a parody of their whole career. I actually thought the last two albums were a big step up on the three before. Especially the last one. The others still have their highlights too. I'd always happily hear the likes of Mercy, Madness and Undisclosed Desires.

Their last few albums have indeed not been of the same quality of the early stuff but name me a band that isn't true of. Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Kings of Leon, Killers....the list goes on and on and on. It's difficult to keep that same quality up. Still some great tracks too on the last few Muse albums hidden among some less than stellar ones.

I am a huge Muse fan and have seen them over 50 times - i just miss the energy of the first three albums especially. To me Simulation Theory was a mess other than a couple of tracks and the new album minus Wont Stand Down, Kill or be Killed and the Amazing Verona was also a mess and awful lyrically (throw the baby out with the bath water LOL). All tracks sounded like a mash of everything that had come before but nowhere near as good. The one thing you can say is that live they still knock it out the park. I'm nearly 40 and also not a great fan of pop music. She can definitely sing though and Driving licence is a good song. I just don't get excited by these kinds of acts. I wasn't at Glasto this year but Dua Lipa looked as dull as dishwater on BBC. It's way too formulaic and over rehearsed. She'd be no higher than Pyramid sub for me if I was in charge.

LOL although we wouldn't have "in rainbows" or any of the Beatles best albums if that was the case
