What I find 'dumb' is anyone coming on here and spending time picking apart other peoples posts to try and show things that were never written.

Just enjoy the speculation and laugh at stuff that sounds far fetched.

You have no idea who is booked, I have no idea who is booked but both of us can read sources here and elsewhere and quote it 'as fact'. I choose not to bother doing that.

It's pretty simple... SR = someones heard it / TBC = the artist has said it / confirmed = the festival has said it.

when did anyone say they were booked? They were in talks presumably. As it gets closer to announcement, contracts will be signed and the whole thing gets firmed up. People will cry about me mentioning the discord but all the info is handily laid out:

 

Eminem- was 'discussed' and someone heard he was in for BST. That's it

 

Similar stuff with Stevie and Fred.

People are welcome to discuss based on “informed sources”.

 

People are welcome to speculate based on absolutely nothing.

 

Or people can chose to not engage with speculation, or rumour at all.

 

Discussions can place before bookings, bookings can be made in advance and leaked, things can change.

 

People are talking “with confidence” regarding the noted trio - no one is saying that’s it final confirmed 100% booked.

 

Just let people discuss the potential headliners - whether that be by total unfounded speculation or informed rumour. The only one trying to police the thread and mute discussion is the one saying nothing is confirmed until it is confirmed, the “informed rumour” crowd aren’t shutting anyone down are they?

Anyway, it doesn't matter what sources say or who is 'booked' or whatever. Things always change. I remember Doja Cat being so 'booked' that she was on the paper programmes in 2022, but she never showed.

exactly. the only reason I need to keep banging on about it so much and justifying it is cause he will come in every day and say 'nothing is booked till it's announced'. 

 

Things were actually easier in here when neil was a good source cause people would listen to what he said and it saved this nonsense

I'm saying that I know we have nothing but SR at best, but so what? I just find it incredibly boring that whenever people want to discuss potential headliners in the ... headliners thread ... people constantly come in here and shout them down by repeatedly telling us that nothing is confirmed. Weird behaviour.

 

It's pretty simple... we know. We just want to speculate and discuss and have fun doing so.

I do think we have 2 out of 3 pretty much nailed on, in O-Rod and The 1975 (As much as I hate the sun as a news source, they tend to get a fair bit of tip offs in the entertainment industry, think they called both the Blur and Oasis reunion quite early on). Although, they had plenty of articles and "tip offs" about Oasis in previous years which turned out to be false. I think the 1975 would 100% do it if asked, and would appreciate the significance on it, no reason why they couldn't do it based on their current stature. 

That final slot is where I think there's a lot of ambiguity, I expect they'd like to book a mammoth and more exclusive act that people don't get the chance to see at any old festival in Europe. Booking one of those acts is a lot more complex, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Neil Young rumours die down in place for someone else, and that cycle repeats a few more times from now.
