2024 isn't really a useful yardstick given that generally speaking the lineup was pretty sub-par.

2023 had Lewis Capaldi third down and even if I'm not a fan he's still a pretty big deal.

Yeah fair, no doubt Capaldi was a big booking as was Lizzo that year. But Chappell would be a huge get. Massive american artist. 2024 was a dud though, just looked back and the Pyramid is weak.

I know this is the “headliner” thread and I can see how The 1975, Neil Young, O-Rod will seem immense to some and not so much to others (if indeed that’s what we end up with).

However at least at Glasto there are at least 6 or 7 other stages of huge note that will all have “HEADLINERS” that will be something much more in line with our individual tastes.

if not there’s Arcadia, Shangri La, the healing fields ……

So much more…..

we are indeed lucky

Ps - From a personal view, I’ve seen Neil young headline before, look forward to O-Rod and will not be watching the 1975 but the rest of the rumours flying around make 2025 look extremely promising

A  while back many people were suggesting Fred Again as a possible headliner. Has something changed to mean that won't be happening now? Haven't seen his name mentioned for ages.

he dropped out. Citing exhaustion but who knows what it really was. He was slated to headline Coachella and then nowhere to be found. There was also some insane theory that Reading signed him to a 10 year exclusive contract which a huge stretch.

The great thing about Glasto is that minor stages there are equivalent to major stages elsewhere, so there’s no reason to think that a confirmed booking at a bigger stage doesn’t mean an appearance at a lower stage or a slightly lower slot. Don’t forget the prestige of this festival.

Interesting, must have missed that info, maybe Chappell is headlining Other on a different night? Up against the 1975? It almost seems too obvious for her to sub O-Rod that I think Glastonbury purposely wouldn't do it cause they don't want people just staying in the same place on Sunday.

you thought Avril was a disaster? Chappel will be 10 times worse. An artist that it was impossible to get tickets to is on at a festival where its convenient? Has to be on the Pyramid. Does she sub Neil or 1975 then. Those are the only choices.

Other Stage field is more than capable of hosting Chappel at headliner time, up against other headline acts.  It's pretty much the same setup and capacity as Reading/Leeds main stage where she is headlining.

You going to attempt the resale?

TBC - mixed opinion on it in my group.  None of the alternatives on the continent are punching their weight and although I'm open minded about volunteering that'd make it a solo mission when half the fun is in our group dynamic.

None of us have the tech skills to spin up the required amount of endless VMs, so maybe need to do some tutorials to avoid ending up Two Bar Bawbags again.

Chappell is subbing Olivia. That’s the info, from various places. Yes having two pop girls back to back is a little obvious, but it’s the most suitable place for her so f**k it. Wouldn’t be the first time by a long stretch that the sub/headliner combo has been two incredibly similar acts or ones with similar fanbases. Didn’t see anybody raise an eyebrow at Noel subbing Macca.

Great news. Balances out the Rod/Chic combo too.

Another good thing if you don't like any of the headliners is you can get an early night.

Not of your tent is within 300m of Arcadia like mine was last year.

At 44 years old it was possibly the biggest mistake I’ve made in adult life 😂😂

The exciting thing about Neil potentially headlining is that 2009 was a very generous and casual fan friendly setlist (for Neil...)

How will he even equal that feeling in 2025 without going over the same ground?

Heart of Gold and Rockin in the Free World will inevitably appear again, and there are more accessible songs like Like a Hurricane, Harvest Moon, After the Goldrush and Old Man that would fare well, but it might be difficult to draw in the crowd with his more recent setlists.

I wouldn't be surprised if he started acoustic this time to mix things up. It's not something that's done often on the Pyramid Stage... although I remember he did that at IOW 2009 and some reviewer criticised him for starting with slow, obscure songs, so the next night he opened with "All Along the Watchtower" and "A Day in the Life" 🤣 Hilarious...

Once things are more solid and closer to the time we need a thread on the setlist predictions.

I’d like to think at Glastonbury he’d do more of a hit filled setlist than usual but you never know. There’s plenty he didn’t play last time. The only certs to be repeated are probably Rockin’ and Heart of Gold.

Give me Only Love Can Break Your Heart and I’d completely ascend to a higher plane.
