2025 Headliners

Guest

Recommended Posts

Ive been to 8 Glastonbury and seen 3 Pyramid Headliners (in full anyway).  I generally just go to the stage that is playing the stuff I like most - I get if its your first time people get mega hyped about there favourite big act playing Glastonbury. -  but i just don't think its the right festival for that -

Generally confident that Glastonbury will put at least 3 acts on during every headline slot across the headline period - so no stress if i do not like the potential headliners - Il be happy wherever I am, move on don't moan about them and let those who like that act have a good time there.

Glastonbury for me is not at all about the headliners but the sum of its parts.

Charli XCX, Bicep, Fred Again, Chappell Roan, Pulp would all be more interesting/exciting than the 1975 at least. They in particular feel like absolute bilge. Olivia and Neil not for me but can accept them as talented at least.

I think many younger attendees would not call Pulp interesting or exciting!

Do we know why Fender is seemingly being discounted? I’d have thought him more likely to make an appearance than The 1975 given that he’s active now and through to the summer and has a GSH in his touring schedule. The 1975 have absolutely nothing else announced for 2025 yet, which I appreciate doesn’t automatically discount them but is the intel on them playing that reliable?

Apart from them being bilge, this is my main concern. They're not 'doing' anything - they don't feel current or interesting in any way. Last album was 2022 and on an indefinite hiatus... Just doesn't make sense to me as a booking. Is it reactionary post-Sza to just go safe?

I just checked back over my 3 previous Glasto's. I have no idea what I did in 2014 as barring Dolly Parton and Massive Attack I spent no time at either of the main fields. This rumoured headline lineup has the same feel.

Catching up last few pages, nearly gave up when someone said Neil Young would lose in crowd size Vs Ezra collective. Good grief.

Love Ezra Collective and would be really disappointed if they clashed as would both be must watches otherwise, but there’s levels to this.

Could be neither.  If the chain of events is right they're not the first choice to do it.

And many older attendees (well, me at least) would not call Charli XCX, Bicep, Fred Again or Chappell Roan exciting.

But I'm surek some will.

Imagine being at Reading or Leeds and not liking the headliners!

You'd have to resort to burning tents or similar like usually happens!

You never know  -  you might end up at Charli or Chapelle and find it very exciting. Although i'd imagine from previous posts, you're unlikely to turn up at either LOL and there's nothing wrong with that!

So much to see and do and yet (collectively) we like to have a moan about what's on on one stage of hundreds!

I retired from Leeds & Reading when I discovered Shambala - much better festival the same weekend - They don't get any mega names - but its still a 10X better festival

That's what this place is all about! 😄

Personally, I always hope there's one Pyramid headliner I really want to see. If there is, I couldn't care less who the other two are.

It’s obviously very dependent upon musical tastes, but I think ending the night with a party is fairly easy if you look outside the main 5 stages.

Always something going off with Arcadia, IICON etc

The night beginneth after the headliners of the main stage finisheth 🙂

Reading through this and there are some right entitled snobs in here! Are people forgetting the concept of a festival?  Multiple stages, multiple acts to pick from.  If you don’t like a headliner you have the choice to go elsewhere.

Well thank you @SirPsychoSexy that is brand new information!

P.S. You sound nice 🙂

They make total sense, they are currently one of the biggest UK acts around, sold out their last tour here & had sell out dates over in the US including MSG.   Plenty of hits, so much so that some popular hits would have to be omitted from the set list because there’s that many to choose from, & its highly likely that they would have a new single to promote so it would probably be the start of their next album cycle followed by another tour.

And the great thing about Glastonbury is there are other stages to choose from if they’re not your cup of tea, as after all music is subjective.

I have no doubt they would pull a big crowd.

Muse headlining a french festival - HellFest on Friday 20th June, maybe increases the odds of a glastonbury visit. Actually doing quite a few festivals, ending up in Norway on 25th June. Then nothing else mentioned

Matt Healy does something misogynistic / racist - some other from of ist -> 1975 get pulled and replaced with Muse.

In two minds. Love Muse, would definitely be there with bells on but have seen them on the Pyramid already and a handful of other times.

I want a night away from the Pyramid though!
