I don't think ST would be as they are more a Download band, I'm not sure if I'd quite say Green Day were. Everyone on socials questions everything about Download ever year. Sleep Token will get shat on so hard because they’re such a young band who loads of people wouldn’t have even heard of. Green Day will pull the biggest crowd of the weekend. Yep I'm one of those who had never heard of Sleep Token before the rumours of them Headlining so I listened to them on YouTube and for me personally it was a tough listen...But apparently they shift a lot of tickets and I may be wrong here but I'm sure I read Live Nation have invested a lot in to promoting them hence the potential Headliner slot at Download. Wait until the 12th November. Once they realise they are watch the meltdown.

To be fair Green Day shouldn't even be in competition with crowd for the other two.
Siddey1994
I keep telling people who get in a huff about sleep token headlining: whoever’s wrong owes the other a beer. Not even gonna bring my bank card next year, I’ll be drinking more than my body weight at this point 😅 Edited 18 hours ago by Siddey1994
Audiorocker
Not being a seasoned metalhead, which bands are on top of their game right now (away from the massive acts) and would be recommended to see? Do you mean acts on the up, acts that are releasing good material still (but have been around a while) or both? Also, on massive are you just classing that as people like Metallica, Maiden, Slipknot, Bring Me, Muse, MCR?

You obviously have your big three on the up, who I'm assuming you know about - Sleep Token, Bad Omens and Spiritbox. After that it really depends what you like and what you are looking for. If you want heavy stuff - Heriot, Lorna Shore, Frozen Soul, 200 Stab Wounds, Paleface Swiss, Zeal & Ardor If you want hardcore - Knocked Loose, Turnsrile, Speed, Gel, Scowl, High Vis, Drug Church, Better Lovers If you want metalcore (lots of this can be pretty generic) - Dying Wish, Make Them Suffer, Invent Animate, Thornhill, Dayseeker, Tallah
Audiorocker
Cheers RedJosh and Gegonimo! Plenty of musical food for thought 👍👍 Spiritbox, Bad Omens, HotMilk, Thornhill and knocked loose will do nicely.

Malevolence (metallic hardcore) Guilt Trip (metallic hardcore) Blood Incantation (proggy death metal) Unto Others (gothy rock - think Type O Negative meets HIM) Kublai Khan TX (big, dumb metallic hardcore) Swamp Coffin (sludge/doom) wristmeetrazor (early 00s Trustkill-style metal core) Upon Stone (melodic death metal) Heriot (industrial extreme metal) Militarie Gun (poppy alternative rock / hardcore) Edited 7 hours ago by Andre91
Siddey1994
Going to throw in Ice Nine Kills as up and comers as I’ve not seen them mentioned. Obviously been around for a while, but their trajectory has taken a massive upward turn in recent years.

I’m sure there’d be stuff up there with it for me if I’d listened around more but it’s tough to beat for me. Youtopia, N/A and Dig It were a proper breath of fresh air. Youtopia, N/A and Dig It were a proper breath of fresh air. That’s fair! Tbh I don’t think this year has been a particularly vintage year for new releases (the weakest since 2019 imo), at least I didn’t think it was until a few weeks ago when a bunch of genuinely excellent albums were released in a short space of time. 8 of my Top 20 have been released in the last 6 weeks or so.
