if these posters are right, this will suck ass. Korn are ok, but headlining a potential 100k event.. with a new band in sleep token.. with green day as the big ones... the well is dry for my beloved download. I like all these bands but its just so weak compared to 2006-2018 era. the cost too.. so corporate

I doubt we're getting Yungblud, especially as a sub when he likely meets the criteria to be a headliner.

I considered that. If A7X can then I think Yungblud would be considered. I'd never seen A7X headlining their own outdoor stage. Really Green Day if kinda expect to have the weakest sub.

This is kinda why I prefer the likes of Green Day to play elsewhere as there just isn't enough on it. My realistic hope is that Rise Against play the Green Day day with Jimmy or don't play at all. If they don't then I'll grab tickets as they were much better inside than last time at Download which was quite poor. I fully expect Download are coming in with 90 bands because the strength over the whole outlay isn't there and they need that much to sell all of it. There is no way they could book similar to last year too much as for Download it isn't sustainable.

Hello - noob here. Thoughts on mine?

Idles won't be there and I don't see a world where they agree to played under Idles. I think you've got the second stage right but right way round. Rise Against absolutely not a sub and Jimmy Eat World are bigger than there.

I think LTJ will play 3rd down the main stage before NFG personally as I just cannot see those two clashing at all. If they don't I think it'll be 3rd down a different stage. I wouldn't however rule out LTJ clashing with ADTR but they've not headlined the Ska stage at the size it is now, nor played higher than 3rd and I don't see that changing whereas NFG are going to sub one of the headliners. Alkaline Trio taking The Interuppters spot is the ultimate ask.

RAR is good value for money, that being said, if I lived there I would probably only get a Friday day ticket.

RAR is going to cost £255 with camping. Download is £300+ I'm basing all this on not being before you know anything as we can all do that for anything. How they can change £45 parking for a weekend and just one day is beyond me. Bloodstock for me isn't worth anything but it's just not for me, my heavier music taste doesn't stretch that far at all. You've probably got Lacuna Coul and Creeper max there and I'd only really bother on the former. I'm kinda with things falling in Werchter now for a European option.

We obviously have very different music tastes as I like a lot of the heavy stuff on offer at both Rock AM/IM and Bloodstock that has been announced which you don't and a lot of the stuff that is likely to be at Download too. I also like lots of the acts at Slam Dunk, incluing some of the bigger ones you like and some you don't along with the smaller one's.

The ancillary costs of a ticket are split for me as I always do fests with my wife. So, even if we include parking on everything (we don't camp anymore) what I am getting per day is infinitely better value to me than a day at Slam Dunk, as I know I'm not going to be able to see the majority of bigger bands available - where as I know I will at the other 3.

Hello - where who agree to play under Idles?

Also did you mean second stage right but wrong way around or vice versa?

Rise Against - I went with that as they are second top/third top on RIP/RAR line up.

JEW bigger than Avalanche headliner? I went with that as it's usually about a 10k venue headliner and they just did Ally Pally.

It's a horses for courses isn't it. Download is probably on the whole excluding Trees the most overpriced event on the circuit for me. Bit I guess I just prefer a rock festival to book more rock and not primarily metal lying to itself. Others don't pretend they are what they are not.

I'd like to go to an alternative rock festival that is actually organised well which ultimately means an abroad option.

Idles are rules out through gigs. Rise Against are much bugger in Germany than there. JEW are playing Ally Pally which is above Avalanche headliner by default of how many more attend Download.

Hmm looking back - the avalanche headliners were a lot smaller than Ally Pally last year (Busted were an outlier).

Can swap Slayer and Rise Against round then.

Idles - not sure their other fest rules them out but we'll see.

Idles ruled out because of this 👇

Green Day & Sleep Token are great bookings for the festival. Green Day are a legitimate stadium level band and Sleep Token just shifted 115k tickets. Thats a stronger combination than a lot of years.

I’ll give you Korn.

Given we know the festival apparently went for originally I'll give it Green Day. Falling in Reverse have also sold that ball park too but they aren't being used as one of the headliners. If I remember rightly, Sleep Token were the second replacement after Muse said no after Korn already replaced MCR. FIR even have the two London venues too. I'm not saying they shouldn't headline but they definitely weren't first choice and not more a seller than FIR for me. ST playing in the UK before edges them.

This is a load of waffle and we don’t ‘know’ any of it is true. Facts are facts, Sleep Token have shifted 115k tickets, that makes them a comfortable headliner. Plenty of previous headliners wouldn’t be able to shift that number.

FIR are playing one night at Wembley arena and one night at the 02 (which isn’t sold out). Sleep Token are doing 2 sold out nights at the 02. FIR’s numbers are impressive, but they’re not as big as Sleep Token.

From what I heard from a source who tends to be right, Sleep Token were actually asked very early on. Possibly not first on the list but still, they were not a last minute addition. They rejected an initial offer and were then billed as European exclusive at RaR/RiP before that was dropped when an improved offer came in from Download.

Once again, could be bogus but they've been right plenty of times before

I'll actually retract slightly on that as didn't realize ST 02 nights weren't next to each other so rightly so on this.

And again kinda the same goes above too here. Two nights was an oversight in me. As for them being asked, I've never thought they were a last minute option, just not the first. But first or not that tour is justifiable.

I don't think Download is as expensive for what it is as you think. We have paid about £555 for out tickets and car parking.

If we look at who we saw at the last 2 Downloads we easily have more than our moneys worth at that price:

2023: Headline sets from  - Metallica x2, Bring Me, Slipknot; 70-75 minute sets from: Architects, Ghost, Parkway Drive, Evanescence, Alter Bridge, Placebo; 60 minute sets from: Pendulum, Halestorm, I Prevail; and 40-50 minute sets from Jinjer, 100 Reasons, Neck Deep; smaller bands with shorter sets

2024: Headline sets from Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold; 70-75 minute sets from: The Offspring; 60 minute sets from: Heilung, Enter Shikari, Limp Bizkit; 40-50 minute sets from: Polyphia, Soft Play, Mr Bungle, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes; some of Royal Blood and While She Sleeps plus what Baby metal could play; smaller bands with shorter sets.

If those bands aren't for you then fair play, but for me that is well worth it.

They were part of the first three that were semi agreed. Ultimately two of those three are playing - Green Day and Sleep Token, so however they ended up there they were part of the original three they wanted. Gonna have the best night watching them play their first major festival headline set.

It's correct.

Download loves to put misdirection out there to try and soften the blow of supposed weaker headliners to try and win people over with at least they tried...

I never forget the whole lost prophets were booked late on to headline due to Foo Fighters pulling out.

I'll state, yet again, that is complete and utter bollocks, lost prophets were booked before even the previous years festival had taken place. People still don't want to believe that one.
