Is their any world where Korn and sleep token co headline and we have green day but we also have another band like maybe linkin park Slipknot system of a down mcr muse like any1 like that

Unlikely but not impossible. I'm sure I'd have heard if there were 4 headliners but can't rule it out I guess. It just sounds like people are struggling to accept the truth and are clinging on to any minor chance they have.

@luckysalt? Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time! Hope you’re good, dude.

All good. I dip in and out on here. Hope you're doing well too

To clarify my comments on sleep token

It was more a feeling out whilst headliners were still being set, I don't believe they ever had an offer and it was rejected.

More so regarding Rock AM Ring, them being informed it's their only festival they're booked at, (was at that time).

Kinda like when Copping said Faith No More was exclusive at Download 2009, he had signed no deal for that, but he was informed it was all they were doing, then Reading offered them money.

Except RAR didn't have a tantrum like Copping did back then.

The same thing happened last year right up until the poster dropped with Queens and Fall Out Boy

Yeah, the only headliner in doubt should be Korn and if rumours are to be believed they did have a bigger act instead of Korn originally.

With respect, Korn are a huge band who headline festivals around the world. Their songs are much more widely known that Sleep Token's.

Whilst Sleep Token will obviously sell tickets as they are a buzz band, Korn appeal to the casual fan far more as people who have grown up with rock and metal know their songs.

Sleep Token sell more tickets here in the UK so fully deserve the bump up, I don’t like them but Korn are being bumped up from sub for no reason, they’ve not sold more tickets or got bigger. Download just lost out on who they originally wanted. Just cause they’re huge around the world and a casual will know more songs than ST doesn’t justify them headlining. Are we going to get Editors headlining Glastonbury because they’re massive in Belgium, no.

I know that as I knew the headliners well before the announcement and some of the undercard. I was on about people clinging to the hope that it was not those headliners...

It happens year in, year out. People wanna hope its better than the weird trio that came out of nowhere, but if a weird trio comes out of nowhere it's likely right.

Do Korn headline festivals all around the world though?

You've obviously been living under a rock if you think Korn haven't got more popular recently

Nu-Metal has had a recent surge in popularity which is why bands like Limp Bizkit and Deftones also have a lot of hype around them

Obviously the real indicator of who deserves to headline is ticket sales so that is up for debate but saying they haven't got more popular is just plain wrong

It’s not really a debate though is it…

Since they last played Sleep Token have a sold out tour of 115k tickets. Korn sold 36k tickets. Could Korn have done more? Possibly. Could Korn shift 115k? I highly doubt it.

I’m not knocking Korn, I’d watch them over Sleep Token any day of the week. But if any of the 3 potential headliners deserves to be questioned it’s Korn, not Sleep Token. Korn would not look out of place subbing again, Sleep Token would.

I agree there's more of an argument against Korn headlining than Sleep Token

Not saying they deserve to headline but saying they haven't got more popular just isn't true

I don't think Download is as expensive for what it is as you think. We have paid about £555 for out tickets and car parking.

If we look at who we saw at the last 2 Downloads we easily have more than our moneys worth at that price:

2023: Headline sets from  - Metallica x2, Bring Me, Slipknot; 70-75 minute sets from: Architects, Ghost, Parkway Drive, Evanescence, Alter Bridge, Placebo; 60 minute sets from: Pendulum, Halestorm, I Prevail; and 40-50 minute sets from Jinjer, 100 Reasons, Neck Deep; smaller bands with shorter sets

2024: Headline sets from Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold; 70-75 minute sets from: The Offspring; 60 minute sets from: Heilung, Enter Shikari, Limp Bizkit; 40-50 minute sets from: Polyphia, Soft Play, Mr Bungle, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes; some of Royal Blood and While She Sleeps plus what Baby metal could play; smaller bands with shorter sets.

If those bands aren't for you then fair play, but for me that is well worth it.

Yes as said before you can get it for £277 each with parking if you book early enough. You go each year probably so it doesn't really matter but there is no chance these days especially I'd be putting down £250/60 to something that hasn't announced acts yet. You might get to know headliners really early but for the average casual punter they don't. 2023 is probably still good for you if with the lineup released but that's whereby it's different for people. I got a ticket to the 23 edition about a week to go on twickets as it was just too much for me personally. When it comes to Bloodstock for example I know I can write it off as to amount of money being worth it for me. Download for me is a festival I attend as unfortunately some of the bands I like play it enough for me to need to go and it's close enough to where I live....that's the biggest angle of them.

And with good reason. Capping an event straight after selling it out.

Just to make is absolutely clear, Korns biggest run of shows were arenas in 2016 with Limp Bizkit, a one of show recently in London being their biggest ever UK show doesn't make it bigger than their biggest run over multiple venues.

'no reason' - Seriously mate they've been one of the biggest metal bands for 30 years now and have a huge fan base. Sold out nearly 40K tickets touring the UK this year well before the gigs were played. Have one of the most recognised setlists in the entirety of hard rock and metal.

Yes. Not to the extent of bands like Metallica or Green Day. But they headline alot in North America and Europe, and do the occasional elsewhere.

How come they’ve never headlined Download before then? And what, in your opinion have they done since 2022 to warrant being bumped up?

Well for one they pulled a bigger crowd than the headliner in 2022.

They've released another well received album and done a very successful 30 year celebration tour that sold out well before the gigs.
