All festival announcements have got a lot earlier since covid - its very unlikely to be announced next year as they will lose out on lots of sales. Electric Picnic over here sells out fast, like Glastonbury style fast... Think it sold out in only a couple hours when tickets went on sale this year with a small batch released at like 5pm later on that day... This year they waited until April to announce headliners even though most of them could've been predicted before hand as they were either doing big solo shows or doing the festival circuit anyway... How do other festivals sell? IS there the same competition there as in the UK?

It's not a covid thing. Its a simple case of knowing you have a killer booking and want to get news out there first, so people buy your tickets over others (I.e. the changing format, 2 main stages with 6 headliners came out in August). Alternatively the later they leave it, the worse you know the lineup is going to be, because they are reliant on hype to build and blind buying Christmas presents to sell tickets, rather than giving a half arsed lineup and hoping people pick you over the other 50 festivals over the summer (I.e. Fallout Boy, Kings of Leon, Panic at the Disco being your headliners, so you wait till Feb when most of your tickets have sold and the ones holding out have ran out of options). NorthernSoul52
Yeah, I'd expect R+L to drop soon-ish. As for how fast they'll go, depends how it is structured. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Fred Again / Lana del Rey day went far faster at both sites than anything else.

Electric Picnic is probably the only big Irish festival... There used to be Oxegen but we're talking 10 years ago now... There's also All Together Now however that's over 21s and is intentionally aimed at an different audience. In conclusion, there's not much competition out here at all
