Question for those in the know of the state of modern rock music:

Are there acts coming through that will shoot to be headliners, that will be the legacy headliners?

I don't mean acts like BMTH and Catfish, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro, Queens of the Stone Age, Fallout Boy, Kings of Leon, 21 Pilots who kind of just floated to the top with no opposition after 10-15 years active, but will never be the name that sells tickets.

Nor acts like Nothing But Thieves, Idles, Don Broco, Fontaines DC who will always drift around in the late afternoon spots.

Nor acts like Royal Blood, Yungblud, Wet Leg, Wolf Alice etc who are at their peak of zeitgeist, who will never be more in the public discussion, so will never go higher than what they get now.

I'm talking about your next act that will have us clamouring for tickets still in 20 years:

Linkin Park - Headed 2003, 2 years after breaking through.

Green Day - Headed 2004, the same year they broke through.

Foo Fighters - Headed 2002, 5 years after breaking through

Arctic Monkeys - 2009, 3 years after breaking through

Muse - 2006, 5 years after breaking through.

Oasis - 2000, 6 years after breaking through.

Crazy to put Fontaines who are on a massive rise right now in with NBT and Don Broco lol - they just sold out Finsbury. I doubt people will be clamouring for their tickets in 20 years but they definitely shouldn't be alongside those 3 acts quite yet!

I'd question Green Day breaking through in 2004 as well lol - Dookie came out in 1994, 10 years before that headline slot!

KOL arguably should be in that lower category (while they won't exactly have people clamouring), they got to headline in 2009 with their two big hits coming out in like 2006 or 07?

We'll have to see if Sam Fender sticks about, he's an obvious shout.

The 1975 got there in 6 years (could have been sooner too really!), no sign of them slowing down at present either.
