2025 R&L Festival

I'm pretty doubtful on Muse to be honest.

Biffy would be boring - done absolutely nothing of note since they played 3 years ago.

They (biffy) are an every 8-10 years act nowadays, not a back after a 3 fest break. Absolutely no appeal to the GCSE crowd in my eyes, day ticket seller only. Not dark fruits enough ala LG nor modern / relevant like 21p or BMTH

Muse have got to the 8 year mark, so i guess should be turning up again at some point

As for a rock headliner - feel like 21 Pilots could be due back.

Would be a lot of backlash if they are the 'big one' though I think!

What were the names from the good source that are considered to be legit, feel like they got lost in this thread and buried by chatter (which has led to random predictions like my 21 pilots one above!)

The reasoning behind Muse is that they are doing the festival circuit next summer, they have already announced several dates across Europe. So it stands to reason they will play a UK fest. I can't see them headlining Glasto in their current state and based on the rumoured headliners over there. I think they are probably too big for the other UK festivals. So it leaves only R&L left, a fest apparently in need of a rock headliner and a fest they have history of headlining

Yeah that’s what makes me think it will be Muse. They did 2006, 2011 and 2017. So they are sort of due to play. I suppose Glasto is still a possibility but I would PREFER a Reading after 2017. They are doing a festival tour next year now as well. One of them the capacity is 150k people so that could be cool. There back this week in Abu Dhabi on the Sunday after with the F1. Eminem and 30 Seconds to Mars are doing the Fri and sat. They are also doing the Soundfest later this month which Eminem is headlining after Linkin Park are playing the Friday and Muse is headlining after Tyler the Creator on the Sat and Sunday is just dance music. Really would love to see Muse play that stage. There’s something about the screens on the stage and how they look which would be amazing with Muse

BST maybe, think theres one headliner unaccounted for - not sure?

Their shows recently haven't exactly flown out so going for a R&L is probably a decent shout, easy payday and good tv exposure

Amazed we haven’t seen a real leaked poster yet, few more hours to go!

Festivals don't usually get leaked, for major fests its every few years perhaps?

Glasto got leaked this year and that was the first time for quite a while (no idea exact number of years)

If the rumour around Download offering Muse a slot but not putting pen to paper is true (as mentioned in the DL forum by someone reputable who’s name has completely passed me, oops) then I wonder if Muse will miss UK festivals altogether. I’d take them at R&L though, and they’d be a good shoe in if Foos have dropped out.

and the other 3?

I dont know, the information came from @roughbloke when I asked a similar question they said:

"I don’t know if it’s 3 or 6 tbh, however, I heard three and they are probably the biggest ones around.

Been some talk of post malone however I’ve heard he’s doing his own shows so make me think he’s not gunna be at reading.

wish I knew more but unfortunately I don’t. Hope it’s correct!"

I'd be shocked (but pleasantly surprised) if charli is headlining both Parklife and Reading

It would be a pretty big c*ck up by Muse if they said no to DL thinking Glasto or R&L would put in an offer, only to get no offer from either. They must have had something in the pipeline elsewhere to say no to DL. I just can't see any reason they would not play any UK festivals at all

I think Sabrina is being mentioned for the final BST headliner slot based on what I have seen. Although does being at BST exclude you from R&L being being at Glasto or R&L would?

They’re playing 14 June (Saturday of Download) in Finland so that may be the reason they couldn’t commit fully before DL moved on to others. But yeah, I don’t think they would have refused Download in the hopes of an offer from R&L or Glasto, it will have been something else (if of course, the rumour is true).

I don't know, Finland to England may be a bit tight but it isn't that crazy. It is a short flight. Maybe they did just decide it was too much hassle for too little reward, but you can fly to Finland and it would be faster than getting to some places in the UK, so on paper it doesn't seem that farfetched to play UK and Finland back to back nights. Especially if both are festivals so it is all set up for you when you arrive.

They’ve a pretty extensive stage set up, mind you. Going from the Finland to UK overnight isn’t like going from the UK to France/Belgium/Netherlands; there no ferry route so you can’t take your lorry’s with the stage set up etc, you’re restricted to a plane and not sure their stage set up would fit in the belly of a passenger jet. That may explain them not being able to commit to DL. I’m no expert on logistics though so who knows haha.

My only doubt on them appearing at R&L is there’s no August dates currently, so whether or not they are up for a one off shall be revealed in a few hours I guess. I’d take them as the rock headliner though

Download went to them as a replacement for MCR after they pulled out of a European festival tour in it's entirety. That is why people were scrambling for headliners and some announcements got delayed and there are some strange bumps that have happened and some fests still have final headliners to announce.
