It was only when their partner told them to stop that they put it away. Still had people getting their phones out checking the time/their socials all the way through. Incredibly distracting and disrespectful MacBeth ‘Is this a dagger I see before me?’ no it’s a f###ing phone, put it away😊😉 Edited December 4, 2023 by Ayrshire Chris 1
UEF
Are we ready to have the conversation about how flags similarly affect many more people, I wonder 😉

Apparently at Bob Dylan's gigs you have to get your phone into a sealed pouch and you cannot use it until the concert is over. I haven't been, but folks that have said it worked great and created a different atmosphere. Although some people couldn't find their seats, didn't know what time it was etc. Someone told me Placebo are doing the sealed pouch thing as well. On the other hand - I am guilty of watching clips on YouTube. If an act I like is touring in another part of the world, I go online and watch clips. If no one filmed there wouldn't be footage to watch. The sealed pouch thing is ridiculous. Just ask people not to take photos/videos. To me it either means you know your fanbase are such c**ts they won't listen to a reasonable request, or you know your show is so sh*t you can't be sure people won't start browsing BBC News in the middle of it.

Incredibly distracting and disrespectful Its just life in general now, I work right in Oxford City centre at one of the Colleges....most people who are here on a day trip to see various bits of the university are walking round with a phone in front of the face instead of listening to what the walking tour guide is telling them about the history of the university/city. Incredibly distracting and disrespectful That's pretty extraordinary for live theatre. Some people are rude idiots. Convert a venue into a Faraday cage, job done. Bloody annoying when you're out in, say, a beautiful national park and you hear that awful whining noise buzzing around you. But my god, the shots those things can get

CaledonianGonzo
Ah - OK. Those are less view-blocking than flags though.
