Either way, I'd prefer it was kept completely under wraps until walking on site

as cool as this would be, its going to be impossible with the excitement about having something new. Completely agree about the sound, it needs improving massively, I've never fully enjoyed it at that stage

They managed to keep the Levels relatively under wraps, ditto IICON but I guess Arcadia is smack bang in the middle of the webcam view. Plus social media spoilers from those already on site. Yeah, probably not going to happen 😃

Will be glad to see something new. The novelty of the spider was long gone come last years festival and considering the great DJs it often has it just felt like a lot of wasted opportunity. Hopefully they bring something with a bit more spectacle than the crane, although I realise it’s largely a work in progress that might have to evolve year on year so might not be mind blowing straight out the gate.

The area is so important for crowd control otherwise theres nothing other than the SE Corner late at night so hopefully something is the works

(TBH i think SE corner needs a revamp as well)

Well except for: Silver Hayes, venues in the Park and Green Futures.

Not true, really. There's an absolute tonne of late night places.

I think the problem is generally a lack of advertising or a general dearth of imagination amongst the punters.  I'm personally fed up of groups defaulting to 'Let's go to Stonebridge' when HMS Sweet Charity is 100 yards away and f**king brilliant.

Probably a thread in this - how the festival can better sell the other late night options.

Shangri-La is a victim of it's early success and the over-hyping of it as "the naughty corner".

I'm with you though re "general dearth of imagination amongst the punters".

How many times do we hear "there's nothing but dance music on after midnight", which is a load of old nonsense.

Sweet Charity is fun but I never know any of the DJ's playing.

Stonebridge has the likes of Tong/Eats Everything/Romy/Confidence Man/Barry cant swim/EwanMcVicar

Yes - but it can also be quite good tho....

Though it obviously draws the eye due to high profile venues and word of mouth regardless of who's on or whats happening - to the extent that it sucks the light away from other places.

That said, not sure I want the teeming hordes muscling in on more select spots.

I dunno - I missed out the 'doing a casino and cabaret in posh clothes' Lost Vagueness years - and while I dug the alleyways (particularly the year I came out of one to find Nina Cherry doing Buffalo Stance in the central quadrant bit) - I can see why its evolved into its current floor plan.

Fail to see how a stationary helicopter would be very exciting, but happy to be proved wrong.

I guess the same thoughts could be applied to the crane … although a few thought it disappointing having that setup in a field was pretty phenomenal to me … and it was only year one … now they would have had 2 years development and a shed load of money from the World Cup

I agree, I thought the crane was cool. They never actually managed to execute their original vision for that with the moon hanging as I believe it was too windy every night. It’s a shame the planning permission was refused.

They’d have sussed it in future versions I’m sure … I’m intrigued and we aren’t even sure it’s to be the chopper … that might be used for some of their other projects although it does seem most likely at this stage given there’s no other options out there yet

even when they did manage to get it up we were still left wondering why is there a moon on a crane? 😂
