Any knowledge on which is the best route into the field that bypasses some of the main post-headliner crowds? (Coming from West Holts after Friday night headliner)

There isn't really a way!  From West Holts you'll pass through the back of Other stage field and head towards Arcadia on one of 3 paths all going in the same direction.

It's going to be pretty rammed for Amelia regardless of which direction you approach, I would think

I think the arena will be much more defined with the big green fencing with controllable access points towards the back, away from the park entrance and opposite end to dragonfly

is anyone else concerned that the space looks like it is way smaller than usual? Or do we think those tents etc are temporary?

I'd had a similar thought, and looking at the webcam as they set up it seems there is more tents/"stuff" behind the chopper and up to the hedgerow with Paines.  Hope I'm wrong but on the evidence we have so far, there seems to be less space for punters.

I'm concerned that it's not a 360 experience. Looks like the audience could be in front only, unless my eyes deceive me. One of the great aspects of all Arcadia installations is that they're immersive, surrounding the booth. Like you say, hopefully those tents are temporary, providing shelter for the build.

This area confuses me a bit. Is it a really big wide open space, or is it a kind of fenced off compound? I've seen pics of the area during past festivals but I'm still having a hard time imagining it (the focus of the pics are mainly of the spiders or whatever central feature is there)

How do they close the access points off then? I've obviously been in whilst it's closed but cant picture how. Once youre in, it's a big open space with the installation in the middle and an outer ring of speakers, with two (?) bars on either side of the dancing bit

there are green walls which have backstage and crew bar behind, bars and natural hedgelines etc.  if they restrict people it’s just with movable crowd barriers in the gaps

Depends who’s playing. As always the crowd tends to be more dense on the edges, so worth trying to push through that to where this is usually a bit more space

Wow, that's a mind boggler. Glastonbury is going to blow my mind, isn't it? 🤣 So I assume the sound is better on the edges and you can perhaps see more?

You'd think so but no - it is a paradox known as "crowd crust". With any luck there is a sociology/psychology PhD student out there somewhere trying to explain it.

I think with Arcadia you have a lot of people visiting just to see it with no intention of staying more than 30 mins to 1hr, so they just hang around the periphery (that's my theory anyway - I'm sure it contributes to it if not the sole cauae).

I'm one of the culprits with this. Call by to see the spectacle but I ain't hanging around to listen to that sh*t.

Again depends where you are. With the spider, the sound was best right underneath it, failing that stood in front of one of the speaker towers surrounding it. No idea what this years Arcadia will be like so cannot comment

I think that happens a lot.

 

It can get a bit “ketty” under that spider, might put the casual off.

Possibly but I'd also assume the crowd control nerds would be getting pretty twitchy at the advice "if there are dense crowds at the edges, then you should push in into the middle" as recommended above.

I definitely want to give it a good bit of my time. It sounds so unique (well, different to anything I've ever been to anyway)
