I liked their first album, will give this a listen.  Never realised it was Soph's side project though!  Big Moon are one of my under the radar live favourites, seen them a couple of times and they're great value.

It's a lovely album. I've been listening to their stuff more than The Big Moon's lately. Got tickets to see them later this month. Can't wait!

If Underrated was a band. - it would be the Big Moon

Good lyrics, Good albums fun live.  - Just not getting the appreciation they deserve sadly.

Absolutely. They join quite a lengthy list of all-female bands that should really be higher up the billing. I've seen them a fair few times, once a rough pub when they were pretty much unknown. They've never disappointed me ❤️

The new Tyler the Creator album is good. It feels more personal than his other albums, definitely got a lot of stuff to still unpick from it. Not sure I prefer it to his last 3 - which were all amazing imo. It's still full of bangers, more towards the soul/psychedelia side than Hip Hop. I know that he said in 2022 Mr. Morale was his favourite album that year, and you can definitely feel the influence conceptually. Glastonbury really need to book him to headline at some point.

I love the new Cure album, wow. I can't believe they can come out with something so good and on par with their best stuff so late in their career. It doesn't have the sort of 'hits' that you might get with some of the older albums but man does it have that beautiful emotive atmosphere that you'd get on Disintegration. It has a lot of sadness, you can hear that it's about grief, getting older, the world changing etc. The more I listen to it the more I love it.

The new Mount Eerie album is sick - perfect for these icy winter days. It has a claustrophobic, cold sort of sound to it which really works. I like the introspection and the rawness of the lyrics. His best since the devastating one he did in 2017. The themes of the album are like the sociopolitical made personal, about colonialism and humanity's relationship with nature. Folky music with some experimentation. It is a pretty long one though.

As part of my 200 albums from 2024 challenge, I've come across a very interesting Nigerian band called Mdou Moctar and their album "Funeral for Justice". Highly recommend it. Some superb bluesy/psych rock riffs. Would love to see them on West Holts!

Shoulda seen him on the Park stage Sunday morning if you went this year, was 👌

The new Laura Marling album is beautiful, such a lovely personal album about her daughter. It's got a cozy warmness about it and I love the string arrangements and how they marry well with the gorgeous guitarwork and her voice. It has a great earthy quality to it, moreso than her previous albums. There's something especially captivating about this album that I can't put my finger on.

Can't disagree with this, Daydreaming was probably my fave tune of 2023. Hopefully the tour with Glass Animals will have gotten them a bit of traction.

Not quite new music but can anyone help me with the name of a band I've been desperately trying to find on Spotify to no avail?

Manchester band, quite new. Lead singer sung in a distinctively Manc accent and possibly wore a beanie style hat. One of their songs was played a bit on 6 Music, maybe towards the end of last year. Had a kind of psychedelic, middle eastern guitar sound and was called something like the story of a man, or at least some of the lyrics were like that. Doing my head in.

Disclaimer is I may have misremembered much of this.
