It's a large part of why I'm not really posting/reading here as much. I've deactivated my twitter account, I'm looking at news less, I've removed all social media from my phone, and I'm trying to spend more time looking/thinking about things I can impact/control, not just depressing news that I can't do anything about. Also, the "polls" side I just don't care about when an election is 4 years away. It's not news, it's just attempting to sport-ify politics. Instead I've started watching actual sport a bit more where I can disconnect from it the next day. Wise. I've been thinking of getting more into history... suddenly interested in all that whereas before I found it all very boring. Prefer the past rather than the scary present and what could be a pretty f**ked future.

Dense but interesting.

lost
I think the ship has sailed on Boris. "The Boris wave" even has its own wiki page apparently. Reform have been going after his time in office big time:
steviewevie
someone needs to tell various right wing rags that it isn't Starmer who decides who goes on the NY honours list (and that whether they like it or not Khan has won london mayoralty 3 times so he must be doing something right)
steviewevie
Labour losing votes to Reform, no where else.
steviewevie
If Reform continue to poll well at some point someone will ask them questions about their policies...like they didn't before last election and their silly manifesto costings... Reform UK manifesto: a reaction | Institute for Fiscal Studies Saying that though, manifestos are just total garbage these days...like Labour and Tory pretending there wouldn't need to be significant tax rises (or significant spending cuts). steviewevie
and kind of funny (not) that the one big legacy from the last government's 14 years apart from austerity that has left the public services on their last legs is the disaster that is Brexit which sucked the life out of everything for 4 years and then left the country economically poorer and more divided, and whole thing was only started because Cameron wanted to kill the threat of Farage/UKIP and they are now left with Farage more popular than ever and Reform replacing the tories for many voters. What a ridiculously dumb own goal.

lost
Someone tweeted some of the court documents from a grooming gang trial and it went viral starting a Jimmy Saville style witch hunt going after everyone. steviewevie
Looks govt have kicked started a commission thing looking into much needed social care reform which will just be long enough that the extra money required for it will become an election issue which will then kill it. Basically..it will cost, will mean higher taxes, so Reeves says no, kick it into the long grass.

Musk is an alt-right twat tech bro c**t who feels very emboldened at the moment because of Trump and his place in the new administration, but he is obviously a bit unhinged and manic with apparently a ket problem so we'll see how that plays out....difficult for Starmer, what does he do? Ban twitter? I think they should just condemn, especially all the incendiary stuff which there is an increasing amount of. Obviously this all favours Reform, loads of money, loads of publicity, but it could also backfire badly, not sure there is much of the population who like the nasty extremist far right yob Yaxley-Lennon stuff, and Farage/Reform need to appeal to more mainstream right wing people, so could bite them in their gammony arses. As for Keir and a plan they're all over the shop really. They have needed better advisors from the start, have messed up with coms and policies like winter fuel payments and saying everything is sh*t and it's going to get shitter but it's all their fault, messed up with manifesto pledges to not raise taxes because sh*t scared that could lose them the election (with some justification), messed up with Sue Gray appointment who had one job and f**ked it, and now they have an economy that is struggling partly because of the budget and partly because of external stuff and they've taken a big gamble that investing in stuff will get the country out of a hole, and the next 6 months could be really difficult for them, especially if Trump takes aim with his tariffs and with Musk in his ear.
