Expand Slowly coming clear. Persuade/coerce Egypt and Jordan to home Palestinians on mass, clear out Gaza, give to Israel. This is the basis of getting Israel to accept the ceasefire, Palestine sold out.

Biggest exports to US from Colombia are petrol and of course coffee. If these tariffs are starting instantly, I would guess that's going to affect contracts that have already been made, so the US companies will instantly be hit with these charges - could well bankrupt some businesses. Price of coffee and petrol in the US will go up noticeably. Colombia won't be affected straight away, but new contracts will be so there will be a knock-on impact. I wonder who will blink first. Expand There's been a lot of these weird variations in stocks over the last year where something looks either about to go on a run or about to burst but doesn't quite do it. Tbf we are in an AI bubble akin to the dot com rush of the late 90s/early 00s so it wouldn't exactly be that much of a surprise for it to hit the skids. Expand deepseek have shown that it can all be done so much simpler and cheaper...without all the super expensive chips and data centres and huge salaries and hype. Great news for users, not so good for US tech companies (like the one I work for!).

Henrik
I'm very sceptical. Hard to know the back story to this as it's coming from China. Who knows the real cost etc? How was this actually achieved? The A.I. wars are just getting started.
steviewevie
If it's real, and it looks real...then it's actually brilliant...the US tech strategy seemed to be just keep chucking expensive GPUs at it, building massive data centres that require silly amounts of power and water....US could be about to lose it's dominance in yet another sector, but not necessarily as tech companies can learn from this...constant scaling up not necessarily better. Just don't ask it about Taiwan or Tiananmen Square.

Thought it was just a general "This AI stuff isn't worth as much as we thought" thing like the end of the dot com bubble rather than whatever's going on with this.
