Acts missing from first poster

2023 main stage acts missing from the first poster:

Pyramid: The Master Musicians of Joujouka, Maisie Peters, The Churnups, Rick Astley, The Bristol Reggae Orchestra and Windrush Choir, Sophie Ellis-Bextor (6 acts total including a TBA)

Other: Ben Howard, The Hives, Lightning Seeds, Krept & Konan, The Unthanks, The Lathums, Tom Grennan, Generation Sex, The Joy (who pulled out), Japanese Breakfast (also pulled out), The Teskey Brothers (replaced Slowthai, who was on the poster), Dermot Kennedy, Queens of the Stone Age (13 acts total)

West Holts: Star Feminine Band, Yaya Bey, ADG7, Louis Cole, Gabriels, Say She She, Kanda Bongo Man, Third World, Jacob Collier, Skinny Pelembe, Beth Orton, Black Country New Road, Speakers Corner Quartet, The Hu, Barrington Levy (15 total, although kind of irrelevant as we have the entire WH lineup this year)

Woodsies: The Sisters, Bru-C, Digga D, Pale Waves, Courteeners, TBA (Hozier), The Last Dinner Party, Wunderhorse, Working Men's Club, The Murder Capital, Shame, TBA (Rick Astley/Blossoms), The Love Buzz, CMAT, The Big Moon, Slowdive, Editors, Caroline Polachek (18 total including two TBAs)

Park: Adwaith, Alabaster Deplume, Los Bitchos, Billy Nomates, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, The Comet Is Coming, Max Richter, James Ford, Flohio, Jockstrap, Obongjayar, TBA (The Pretenders), John Francis Flynn, Gwenno, Charlotte Adigery, Viagra Boys (16 with one TBA)

Probably more indicative of last year having much fewer names on the poster, and with this year's poster having a stage breakdown we can probably expect less "big" names. But there's definitely potential for a few!

There is only room for 4 more acts on the pyramid and two are likely to be the Reggae/Choir/Africa influenced style acts. Best case scenario we get a TBA that is a big band also and a novelty option like Rick. I'd personally like the bootleg beatles to do it again or Cyndi Lauper being a surprise 2nd on.

That's why I said next year as Pulp this year now is extremely unlikely to almost definitely not happening. I don't even know looking at it if the festival are even still trying to book a Pulp type of act, none of the subs this year and Other headliners are even remotely similar. FOr the bigger acts they want female acts or other acts that add diversity that isn't rock or indie rock acts to stand out. Like Snow Patrol or Kasabian for something alternative but way different vibes. I will say they should be on the 2025 lineup but I also could see them not fitting the vibe now.

I don't think Richard Hawley just follows Pulp around though. I don't think Pulp are going to play, but I think Hawley has a decent chance of turning up.

No I don't think do either but if he knows Pulp are doing it next year and there is a planner potential guest for a songit may well play into it.

Tim Booth from James just liked my tweet praising their new single. Already strongly rumoured so put them down as playing.

Yeah, that's true. But the timings for his own career would be better this year because he has a new album coming out on 31 May. I don't think he'd pass this year over if he has the opportunity to do it.

Not sure that it is explained tbh.

She's still in the country, and available with nearly a full week for the dust to have settled on meltdown then another 3 days before the next show. No way that's the only reason.

Well her words are, pretty clear and emphatic  “They did approach me but I can’t because of this", but feel free to carry on with this conjecture about what she should be doing 😂

Clear and emphatic doesn't mean it's the whole story. Clearly it's not.

Seems like she thought she was worthy of the legend slot, they had already booked Shania so Chaka then said thanks but no thanks to another slot, hoping she gets the legend slot in the next few years

What makes it "clearly it's Not"?

The fact that Glastonbury is a week later than Meltdown - so any knock on impact from one to the other will be absolutely minimal.

Completely plausible.  But if this is the case, then that's a booking calamity if there ever was.  Chaka > Shania by miles.

I hear you. Mind you I do not know Chaka's calendar  or what she would desire for her time to be able to play

She's not exactly a spring chicken though and if she's giving it her all she might want to rest for a bit after doing it.

Is it possible that Chaka's been booked as 2025's legend? If she's touring that far ahead, of course

I'm fairly convinced this year will be my last Glasto, but if I don't go in 2025 and Chaka is the Legend I'll be f**king furious with myself!

I dunno, she's nearly two decades older than me and I would sometimes leave a week between merely attending gigs, what she's doing at Meltdown is clearly massive and tbh, she's earned the right to do what the feck she wants.
