New pitch your own tent glampsite

Hi everyone! We secured tickets yesterday, but unfortunately we'll be arriving on Thursday. We're considering booking Holt Farm to avoid the stress of finding a campsite if we arrive late, and it looks like it was a great experience for everyone last year!

I see that the campsite is huge, so is there any way to have a slot saved closer to the entrance? I'm guessing that the family and quiet camping will be at the end? Also, if we'll be coming in and out each day, can alcohol be brought into Glastonbury through the re-entry gates? Thanks so much!

Pitches are allocated a lot later and you have no say where you will end up (other than selecting Quiet(ish) or General camping...both of which were quiet if comparing to livelier campsites inside the fence). Campsite isn't that big to be honest, not exactly a huge trek to PGD from anywhere in it (and all the camping areas are behind the bar and food area). Trek from PGD to any action once inside the fence is the longer part of the walk in (but then unless you stay in one place all day and night, everywhere at Glasto is a long way!). No problem bringing alcohol through PGD (either open and being actively consumed, or in your bag for later). Queues getting through were grand last year, never really had much of a wait, but there was a constant stream of people in and out.

Many thanks! This was really helpful. I thought the quiet pitch would be at the end of the campsite and further away from the entrance and the shower and toilet area. But I guess we'll find out when we get there.

Quiet(ish) is right beside the car park and the entrance (so the first field). We were pitched just inside the entrance gate, so literally a 1 minute walk from the car. It took less than 2 minutes to get from the tent to the showers/toilet block (so no further way than you might be to a toilet block in any regular campsite inside the fence, unless you are one of the crazy people that camps beside the toilet blocks!). The walk from the campsite into the action areas in the festival is where the trek is involved, but that is mainly due to a lack of anything going on close to PGD. It was about 20 minutes or so walk to Arcadia in standard festival traffic.

It's a bit annoying that their plots are not that big and also square, when tents are generally not square. To get mine in I'd need two spaces.

They were pretty relaxed about big tents poking out over the side of the pitch last year. There’s a huge gap between rows, so lots of people had enormous tents diagonally across them. 5mx5m is pretty huge if you need a bigger one (only had 3mx3m last year). Obviously if it’s one of those ones with a big centre area and lots of individual rooms off it, then maybe it’d be a squeeze. Bonus at Holt Farm though if you do have a load of people in a giant tent is that the cost is per pitch not per person (like Love Fields). If you don’t have a load of people in there, then you don’t really need the ginormo-tent!

See I would normally consider myself a reasonably intelligent person, but I genuinely had not thought about pitching my tent diagonally.
