I would go for 2.

Fontaines and Noah.

Yeah I’d say they’re guarantees.  The other one im not thinking is Simple Minds mainly because they also subbed Green Day at IOW festival last year.

could see - Green Day, Simple Minds, Weezer for instance

Simple Minds is a difficult one, they are 1 band that I've had no interest in.

On initial announcement I thought barn headliner, but realistically no idea where they would be.

Do we think the absence of acts like Weezer, Biffy Clyro and Jimmy Eat World can be interpreted as a decrease in their likelihood of playing given they've already been announced for similar festivals. Or is it a case of holding them back to form part of a later announcement?

18/100 acts confirmed until now… just be patient. Friday has to become more ‘Green Day’ friendly too.

I was expecting at least one of these. I get there is money 18 announced so far but for the first bunch announcement that was a lame. Ken though has suggested the Green Day to have certain additions and even though Simple Minds are subbing them at IOW, IOW have very weak subs by some standards. They had Keane and The Streets subbing and that's not happening at any other major festival. Keane played 4th down at Glastonbury for example the same year but then the headliner thag day at IOW wouldn't headline Glastonbury. It's a festival that can afford to get one huge headliner now but is majorly stripped back and that's what's kept it going. Days are gone since they had probably the strongest top line back in 2015 than any festival over here has seen since then potentially.

The 4 day gap between Irish and French shows, and no belgian date would suggest heavily they will play.

Even more so, that the green day at werchter show is bang in the middle of the 4 day gap in schedule.

Biffy Clyro would be the one I'd not expect so much as they aren't really that much of a deal in Belgium but there is also nothing currently ruling them out.

I'd definitely not expect anyone than those two. I think Raye is a barn headliner.

I guess the concern with some of the guitar acts is whether they might've been signed up to do Live is Live instead the weekend before. Any suggestions about who their big names might be to presumably rule out from Rock Werchter?

Have never seen a set of names so well received on all the various forums and social media I’m on.  Very impressive.

You've never seen a better reaction to a set of names that what's been announced? Come on! You can like them fair enough but no way this is the best you've seen.

The big rumour/expectation was Elbow so that’s all ruled out now.  Not sure when they announced last year? I’ll go searching.

Imagine Jack White would be a big get for them for the demographic they're going for. Hoping RW won out...

So they announced their headliners in October but then a lot of the support on 23rd November so it really must be imminent

I can't understand how Sam Fender is the headliner!!
Note where Sam Fender is in Hurricane/Southside.

Different countries I guess. Tomoz he gets announced for stadiums in the U.K. and then in the US for Coachella he’s in small font.

Id suggest he was probably the sub but as Ken said things changed.

I say different markets but I don't think anyone can really. Sam can been given an extreme bump up for the case of the other headliners theh have. Could have subbed easily but it is what it is. Even if you give him the benefit of selling the venue you did out twice it's 17-18k tickets and you're then registering around the sub level point. That's assumption. I think they probably hoped on Billie.

I would like to think Jack White is under Green Day although I don't think it's the best fit and I don't think they need him there. I can't see Fontaines not subbing but that's a stretch too for me. Jack being under Sam saves it a bit but there is no way he's not taking same line with that. He took same line with Pearl Jam.

Yeah I know he’s headlining.

Yes, I also believe Ken, normally when he says this it is about things that are behind the scenes, that were going to happen and will no longer happen, like for example when he talked about Billie and London Grammer.

I don't think you can compare werchter to hurricane, I've never even heard of a lot of the headliners at hurricane.

Hurricane is like werchter getting Soulwax and Deus(who got there name from a bjork/sugarcubes song 😍) headlining.

Has the info on London Grammer changed?! Must of missed that.

I shall look forward to seeing you at 10am for our battle

How do you know? Plenty of bands have decadelong absences from touring life.

Nobody knows obviously, it is all speculation. I'd say though that bands which reform usually do so as they are not doing anything else. Radiohead are in the opposite situation.

Short term (meaning probably at least the next 18 months ) you've got Jonny's recovery most likely followed by a backlog of The Smile gigs to catch up on.

Creatively, The Smile  now appears to be the outlet for both Jonny & Thom.

The other band members are engaged in their own work or committed to touring with others.

A commitment to Radiohead is probably a 3 year endeavour, I don't see where the drive comes from to make that happen.

Anyway not to derail things, more a offhand comment that it is not the inevitability some people think it is.

I did wonder if Fender would have The War On Drugs has support since Adam from them produced his new album. Both TWOD and CMAT supporting on his UK Stadium shows, hopefully both turn up here.

Agreed they'd both be great, fingers crossed. Would TWOD sub main again after playing that slot before Pearl Jam in 2022?

Is Sam Fender - The War On Drugs - Elbow a big enough top three for Sat?

Think it would be Raye on the main stage myself.  There’s a comment in her write up about her last performance being an audition for the main stage
