I'm now hanging my hat on a return of the 3pm announcements (4pm Belgian time).

If not, I begin to worry that selling all of their day tickets has got them feeling that they don't have to rush...

The latter could be influencing, but maybe not for the same reasons as we like to belive, when we assume that festivals are fully competing against each other. If that had been the case, it would be strange to let competing festivals announcing big/shared names first, but when you know that Live Nation are running many of the festivals the puzzle becomes different. It will be in their interest to push announcement and major names on the festivals that are selling the slowest first, before adding to those already selling well or being sold out. They are looking to maximize their top revenue, not the individual festivals.

Yeah that's definitely a good way of looking at it. I used to run a local events company and I know first hand how difficult balance to measure hype levels, roll things out in good time and manage expectations of names coming and it is a really fine line before expectation and hype becomes frustration.

As you say, Live Nation won't be bothered too much about the individual festivals but the punters attending will be. The end of January is an absolutely crucial time for big commitments to things like festivals. People come off the back of a long January and are (typically) looking for some sort of enjoyment, I think it's often the most popular time for people to book holidays, commit to tickets etc. I think they probably need an announcement next week or people definitely begin looking elsewhere.

I'm surprised (if they're still trying to iron things out with some potentially bigger names) why they haven't just committed to 8-10 medium to smaller names just to tide people over for now.

So the plan was to go Weds, ferry and camp up in the hive my space however my daughters Prom has just been arranged for the Weds.  Obviously it’s a big day for her and I want to be part of it so I’m now thinking of meeting the lads there and I’ll be heading on the overnight bus from London (after we’ve done the prom bits etc…).

So the question for anyone that can help.  The bus is due to arrive at 7am.  Will my RW ticket include travel from Brussels to Leuven? Do you need to pre book the train or is showing the RW ticket sufficient.  I’ve read the buses to the festival are right outside the station, I presume that’s all simple to find? If I arrive at Brussels at 7am, what time should I get to the site and finally…. From the drop off is it a long walk to The Hive?

Thanks all

You don't need to pre-book the train, but a while before the festival you will get a link to SNBC (train/buses++) where you need to validate a code from your festival ticket to be able to download your transport ticket. Only addition, is if you travel from the Airport, as there will be a surcharge. To find the buses when you arrive in Leuven is no problem. There are signs everywhere. From the drop off to The Hive I would imagine a 10 minute walk (never stayed there, but for me it's about the halfway spot to the festival entrance), maybe less.

Got bored so headed to Festileaks, this afternoon someone has put together a list of 'most likely' bands to play based on touring plans/rumours and came up with this:

'Architects, Artemas, Aurora, Bad Nerves, Beabadoobee, Biffy Clyro, Caribou, Fat Dog, Franz Ferdinand, Geordie Greep, Glass Animals, Gurriers, Jamie XX, Jpegmafia, the Lemon Twigs, London Grammar, Magdalena Bay, Nia Archives, Nieva Ella, Pommelien Thijs, Royel Otis, Supergrass, Sylvie Kreusch, Turnstile, Warhaus, Weezer, Wunderhorse, Zaho de Sagazan,'

Would be over the moon if Biffy, Fat Dog, Franz, Gurriers, Jamie XX, London Grammar, Nieve Ella, Royel Otis, Supergrass, Turnstile, Weezer and Wunderhorse make their ways to this line up in the next announcement. Would have absolutely been worth the wait for me if they all find a way there.

Edit: I should stress I don't think that the person is in the know, they've just done a lot of work at looking at dates, looking at well placed info and eliminating people who won't be there, and in the boredom between announcements I thought it could be good to try and stoke up the rumour mill a bit

Excellent detective work. Biffy would be an incredible addition for me.

Does anyone know if Justice or Vampire Weekend are ruled out?

Jimmy Eat World likely out with Belgian tour date over the summer. Would've been a good earlier act for Friday.

That would be a kick in the balls. The Friday at Download is more than likely happening still though but I've got no issues watching JEW twice, one of my favourite bands.

I've got Biffy Clyro, Nia Archives and Weezer from that. And I already know about Weezer so that's not a great selection to go on. I gave Royel Otis a go and nope. They also murdered, Murdered on the Dance floor and Linger by The Cranberries.

Yeah the person does it every year, they base it on who is around, who shares acts etc….  It’s a guideline more than anything.  Some really good names there
