The Park

"co-headlining" on a single night is a weird concept.  Whoever is on last is headlining the Park Stage, no matter what you write in the programme.

I wonder if it means Orbital will start later than other subs on account of PG not needing much setup, thereby putting the end of orbital overlapping with the start of other headliners?

Out of upvotes.  Completely agree.  I don't claim to be a dance/DJ aficionado, but sounds bang average to me.

He is, just like the Wet Leg comparison spoke about.

I will be fair in that The Park isn't a big one for me itself, doesn’t have an act I'd be really keen to break away for. Stonebridge however is going to have ticket all over clashfinder.

Do we think it'll be for women/ femme people only, a replacement for the venue in the SE corner?

I don't want to start a debate on the rights/ wrongs of the subject.  But I dunno how they make it a specific space for one group (a "femme-queer venue") while allowing anyone in - unless it's more about the acts they have on etc.?

I don’t think it’s going to be a closed space by the sounds of it - more recreating a queer femme club within Glastonbury in the same way NYC Downlow is a gay cruising club. So it will be the aesthetic, the DJs (a ton of queer club nights there), what they play etc. no doubt it will attract a queer crowd but open to all. It looks great I can’t wait!!

I hope your right, back to back Lankum & Aftab, and Moctar & Crumpets.

I always read co-headliner to mean they're getting roughly similar set lengths, so each playing for less time than a normal headliner but longer than the other subs. So maybe both getting 80ish mins?

Might be in luck with Crumpets and Moctar - we know Moctar is Sunday and PPC are playing in Cambridge on Saturday, with the info we already have with the whole Friday lineup it means they're pretty dead on Sunday too.

Lankum and Aftab i'm not as sure about, other than just deduction

Does the new area replacing the Rabbit Hole/Funkingham Palace seem like a bit of a downgrade? It seemed to always get a few good DJs I'd be into along the lines of Artwork, Greg Wilson, Manpower etc. Not even a name I'd recognise on the new area set to replace it. Maybe just going for something different.

Great move on then, I got in inside 20 minutes. It has been a case of if you want to leave you won't be getting back in easy anyway for years so you're trying to put a point across out of nothing. But either way, good for you, on you go.

Nah. You used to be able to come and go. Only way you got in in 20 mins was pushing or getting lucky...or more likely, you're full of shite, seeing you just said it's hard to go back in...

So errr...you proved my point. Not bad, seeing as I put it across out of nothing.

From the tracks released, would describe as a cross between Late of the Pier and Nine Inch Nails.

Massive thanks for that quite accurate description (much more LotP than NIN) because I'd not heard of them before, but it seems that they could fill that Late of the Pier-sized hole in my life. I'm loving their singles and they're going on my must-see list.

What are you actually on about or are you just fighting yourself now? You sound like Neil now telling people what their own experiences were like.

So in another words if you're giving options how I could have got in, inside 20 minutes then it was possible. It is hard to go back in but I wouldn't come out if I was in. I've been going there for years. Basically it needs to revert back to being later like 6pm so there is more interest in options that clash, that's the biggest problem.

For obvious overcrowding reasons the bigger names were performing in the rabbit hole were left of the poster. I suspect the same will be with this.

Seems very premature to call it a downgrade.

Wet Leg was stupidly busy. They should have been on The Other. It was similar to Radiohead and Pulp from years ago. There is no one on this Park line up who will get close to that level of crowd.

Radiohead & Pulp were cracking!

Orbital confirmed on a social media post that they are playing before Peggy Gou, hopefully them 'co-headlining' means we'll be getting a longer than 60 mins set.

Really do wish Orbital were headlining - that would sort out both the mass clash happening at sub time and then the absolute headliner dead zone immediately after. So annoying.

Do wonder if this is a case of Emily + co simply chatting shite to appease the band/others a-la Lizzo or if they’re actually gonna give both acts 75 mins.

Exactly Peggy who??? ffs

I mean, she’s massive, and currently much bigger than Orbital, but is also just such a strange booking for the Park given her brand of music and what the Park usually has to offer - a slightly more niche or headsy alternative. Feel like they’ve stuck her there because Jamie xx was already booked as the token Woodsies electronic act.

I love dance music and DJs, but putting Fat Boy on The Park seems to have broken the seal and, for me, especially given the enormous variety and choice of DJs in the daytime and at night, I really feel that the five main stages 'should' have live acts headlining, even if those are live dance acts - Jon Hopkins, Four Tet, Justice etc. Just doesn't feel right to me.
