not real Ciutat show, but it was used as part of Wednesday shows (Spiritualized, in 18 or 19)

2018 was a "special" year regarding Auditori. They were only allowed to use it on Wed (Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagés / Spiritualized) and Thursday. Friday ans Saturday Auditori was used for a different thing, not related with PS.

Because of that, they used, around 14h on Friday and Saturday, the other Auditori, close to Glories, for Stranger Things performance.

Totally agree. Acts like Spiritualized, Cassandra Jenkins, The Sabres of Paradise, Beach House, TV on the Radio, The Jesus Lizard, Stereolab, LCD Soundsystem, Anohni and the Johnsons, Kim Deal, Alan Sparhawk, Cap’n Jazz, Destroyer and Los Campesinos! wouldn't get booked if they had given up on the older demographic.

@Olivedal 1904 and xxialac, my "the festival on longer wants me to attend" is perhaps unfair - how about "the festival is skewing towards a twentysomething demographic".  I think when I started going in 2011 it was skewing from late 30s to late 20s (which was me).  The time I attended Flow in Finland, the headliners were Major Lazer, Pet Shop Boys and Florence and the Machine (nice blend of new, heritage and current imo).  The undercard was much thinner than a Primavera but you know, there are only so many acts you can actually see in one day. I say that as someone who always (with hindsight as an older guy) utterly flogged myself at the Forum on 6 - 9 hour visits, treating the idea of taking time out at the food court as a bizarre diversion. While I am grateful for the mentions of the other festival that have been provided, they're a lot more avant garde or "heavy" then I would gravitate towards.  For this summer, I'm going to see Pulp at Tramlines (undercard for that is like a Primavera of a decade ago) and hopefully Vampire Weekend at Victorious (undercard for that is much less tasteful hahha).

Honestly, I think it's pretty normal for a festival to turn to a younger demographic.

Don't think you can survive in the long run without doing that and trying to bring new faces to the festival.

And i think they are smart with their pop music bookings. It's not just "bring the biggest name possible at the moment).

Also they are doing a pretty decent job on booking new and promising indie bands (horsegirl, chanel beads, this is lorelei, tramhaus, been stellar etc.). And not only that but booking also some more experimental stuff that are not so radio friendly.

Not bringing bands that became popular ten or more years ago dosn't make it less indie. Of course, all that applies if you didn't stop listening to new music at some point.

Overall, I think (especially this year) there's so much to see on the undercard if you want to skip mordor. This for me is really one of the strongest line ups of primavera ever created. I was thinking of skipping this year because of the prices but this line up was just too delicious.

Sunn 0))) in Auditoria would be epic.

I don't get why they have not been booking them more regularly. They have toured the non-metal festival circuit quite often. They have a sort of swans-lankum profile in terms of booking I guess. It's common knowledge how their concerts are a unique experience that could appeal not only metalheads but also people into avant-garde, ambient, drone...

They last played in 2015 right? I bet the organisation wants to spotlight newer experimental acts before booking Sunn again.

Yeah, I think that's it. Whilst that's 10 years ago, there are a tonne of bands in this category and they try and keep things fresh.

It's the leading indie names they repeat, in part as they need to drive sales from their appearance and there are fewer of them.
