Primavera Sound 2025

Recommended Posts

Let's not forget that the social threads were requesting the likes of Chappell Roan & Sabrina Carpenter the day after Primavera came to an end this year.  If you look at the comments on the Stereogum site they are very positive, and echoing what other people have said here, I think we'll appreciate how deep this line up goes when compared with other festivals throughout next year.  The headliners might mirror something like Coachella, but their undercard would never be this creative or diverse

After browsing through the lineup I would rate this year slightly stronger than last year but a bit weaker than 2023.

Must sees: Chat Pile, Beach House, TV on the Radio, Cap'n Jazz, Turnstile, Carolina Durante, Julie, Spiritualized, Stereolab

Delighted to see on the lineup: Gouge Away, LCD Soundsystem, Been Stellar, Heal, Idles, Fontaines DC, The Jesus Lizard, High Vis, Feeble Little Horse, Christian Lee Hutson, Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Los Campesinos!, Still House Plants, Nourished by Time, Dehd, This is Lorelei, Sturgill Simpson, Destroyer, Yawners, Alan Sparhawk, Kim Deal and Cmat.

That's about 30 names I would love to see and then there's a bunch of other decent ones good enough to pass time.

Agree with a previous poster hoping they add Deafheaven for Ciutat!

Doesn't it show the difference in tastes though, not badly by the way. You've got 30 names and only 1 is what I would see. I think this is weaker than 2024 but has maybe stronger names that I'd like this year. 2023 was by ar my strongest year...Madrid edition especially with about 9/10 acts and that never happens.

Stereogum isn't what it used to be; what their commenters like shouldn't really be of concern. But I concur there's definitely an audience for the three headliners. Whether that is at the expense of the rest of the festival experience is TBD. I do also agree though that there's plenty of deep stuff on this lineup.

Is it overly generous to say that, given how much pretty much the cost of everything (artists' fees, logistics, etc) has rocketed since Covid-times and yet the ticket prices are more or less still the same - Primavera booking the likes of Sabrina and Chappell Roan (and to an extent Lana last year) ensures that their ticket sales, particuarly day tickets from a new demographic, cover the cost of what is still the one of the strongest undercard line-ups on the globe year after year?

I've no insider knowledge whatsoever, but if it did end up being the case that hosting 2 or 3 hours of nothing-y pop music serves to safeguard countless hours of other acts over the rest of the weekend.... I'd take that deal all day long.

That could very well be the case; obviously this move was about pure commerce, regardless of how the fest is trying to spin it by referring to the headliners as the most * important * acts in music. But it does come at a tradeoff of not having bigger alternative acts, and that is something we generally hope for and expect when buying earlybird tickets.

I agree

in fact i think its already categorically the case. Its not in the future - its firmly already happening:

2024: no sell out, not super busy across most of site but Lana day sells out and they actively reduce weekend ticket capacity to add more day tickets.

im watching PJ harvey and have to tell some girls nearby to please stop talking during her, who are obviously waiting for Sza.

meanwhile ATP failed years ago and a festival of smaller more niche & diverse acts clearly doesnt make enough money to stand alone.

Also to say i am more than happy for a few big pop acts to bankroll the more interesting stuff for the rest of us, if that’s how it has to be.

I haven't had time to check the poster thoroughly yet, but generally it looks very similar to the last few years in a way, that around 60 % of the names on the poster I just don't know, so I'll have to youtube / spotify them. I'm sure I'll find many hidden gems (as every year).

As for the names I know, there are quite a few I'm very excited about (TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, Parcels, Waxahatchee, Haim, Hinds, Carolina Durante, Danny L Harle, CMAT...) - either because I've never seen them live or because I just can't wait for their new music (since Primavera booked them, there's no doubt the new music is coming).

And the headliners - Charli XCX being the first name in the release video is well deserved. And even though I'd prefer a headliner who wasn't there last year, I still most probably won't miss her set. Chappell Roan's Femininomenon is a true banger. And I'm ready to give Sabrina Carpenter a shot. I don't know any of her songs, the quick check on youtube gave me Kacey Musgraves vibes, so it's probably not gonna be me for me. But I'm ready to give her a chance - same as to every other name on the poster.

Personally, lack of rap doesn't bother me (not a fan), but I would definitely take more big "guitar bands". Fingers crossed for The Cure or Nine Inch Nails at PS 2026.

Some artists I'd like to see that could be realistic:

  • Anitta
  • Azealia Banks (doing a UK tour)
  • BICEP
  • Billie Eilish
  • Bree Runway
  • Caribou
  • Childish Gambino
  • Cleo Sol
  • Daniel Caesar
  • Doechii
  • Elyanna
  • Empress Of
  • FKA Twigs (lol)
  • FLO
  • James Blake
  • Jamie XX
  • Kali Uchis
  • Kenia OS
  • Missy Elliott (doing a US tour)
  • Nathy Peluso
  • Nelly Furtado
  • Pip Millet
  • Rauw Alejandro
  • RAYE
  • Ryan Beatty
  • Saint Levant
  • Sault
  • Stormzy
  • TEMS
  • The XX
  • Tinashe
  • Tove Lo
  • Tyler The Creator
  • Vegyn
  • Vince Staples
  • WILLOW

Only 3 from my expectation lists are coming and they already came at Primavera in the last few years, so it’s a very deceptive line up overall.

Gave it a thorough look and its a very good line up without question, yet something is off for me that has nothing to do with headliners. If I'd have to categorize

Must See, never seen - Cap'n Jazz, Julie Byrne

Must See, seen before - LCD Soundsystem, Cassandra Jenkins, Stereolab

Want to See, never seen - Alan Sparhawk, MJ Lendermann, Clairo, FKA Twigs, High Vis, Kelly Lee Owens, Los Campensinos, Magdalena Bay, Turnstile, TV on the Radio, Zaho de Sagazan

,

Want to see, seen before - Beach House, Anohni, Black Country New Road, Floating Points, Fontaines DC, Haim, Spiritualized, Waxahatchee,

Interesting, would dive into - Chat Pile, Been Stellar, Christian Lee Hutson, Denzel Curry, Dehd, Julie, Nourished by Time, Still House Plants, The Jesus Lizard, This is Lorelei, The Sabres of Paradise,

No Question that I'd have fun during that weekend, but for me its missing at least two or three must sees

do you all think we will get the splitted lineup today? or maybe before the general sale ?

Maybe they wanna first get out as many weekend tickets as possible on Monday? This fan sale thing is an artificial bottleneck so they might wanna get as many people fomoing as possible

Either that or its today
