(Relative) Biggest/ Smallest Crowd Size Predictions

Who do we think is going to have the biggest set relative to their position on the line up/ stage they're playing (a "glastonbury moment", if you will) and on the reverse, who is going to struggle to pull a crowd?

SZA clearly (I wish her all the best). Also Idles for the smallest seem an obvious one for me - I saw Alt-J headline the Other stage and I think the total crowd could of got in a mini-bus, expecting fairly similar this time with who they are up against. Think potentially Burna Boy as well, Nia Archives, Romy and Two Door are all gonna draw biggish crowds I reckon.

On the reverse Barry Can't Swim is another obvious one, but I also think Arlo Parks might grab a massive one in the Woodsies, people know the name and they isn't a whole lot they're going against.

I have a feeling Idles are going to do fine crowd-wise

Yeah, they’re a small OS headliner but they still have a big fanbase and are a good counter to Dua. They’ll do just fine, if not spectacular.

Think Fontaines will absolutely pack out the Park at the same time mind.

The problem is not the popularity of either of these, but that they will have 90% overlap of fanbase

Well yeah, it’s a dumb clash, but was clearly brought on by Idles being a last minute booking and them not being able to switch things around to make it flow a little better. sh*t happens.

What do people think about Paul Heaton on the Pyramid Stage? He has hits galore, but probably one for a certain age group (and I think a lot of younger one might not know his name as much as The Housemartins or Beautiful South).

I want him to do well, but it'd also be nice to stroll right to the front lol

See I thought that about the age thing but when I saw him on the Other in 2016 everyone around me was really young. And singing along to every word, from Housemartins right up to his new stuff. I thought everyone would be my age or older.

Don't think it'll be crazy busy at all but I think it'll be fine.

Feel like both him and PJ b2b is gonna be a pretty desolate Pyramid field, especially with Sugababes on Holts and then popular indie bands on both Other and Woodsies.

Likewise Kiwanuka Saturday.

Likewise Janelle Sunday (unfortunately).

Definitely hoping to get inside the buffer zone barrier for that one. I suspect a lot of the crowd there for Seventeen before him will disperse.

Do people think it will be difficult to get into Prydz? I was thinking I could finish shift at 1.30 and head on to it... but I may be grossly underestimating how busy Arcadia is at 2am for such a big name?

If my taste is anything to go by (it probably isn't) the main stages will generally be pretty quiet and smaller stages rammed.

It’ll be busy yeah. Very big booking for them and recognisable name, even if that recognition largely comes from a twenty year old song that he actively hates. You might be fine getting in, but might require some squeezing through people as they all form a crust at the edge as is always the case.

Third down on El Pointo last year:

Foos, Lewis Capaldi and Blondie, all bring the big old crowds.

This year.......

Kiwanuka especially getting a third down slot still touring his five year old album with no sign of any new material on the horizon is wild. Be one thing if he was a renowned live act who will get the crowd going, but it’s gonna be prime sit down picnic blanket stuff - a small sea of people pitching up for Coldplay with a whole bunch of indifference to the act on stage.

SZA & PJ Harvey I think will fail to pull the numbers.  Kiwanuka may struggle, but he’s not up against much IMO.

Sugababes and FBS effectively “opening” the new Arcadia will both be busy.

I’m not overly fussed about a Hot Chip DJ set but I may well be there to get a prime slot for Prydz.

numbers wise coldplay will have the biggest crowd.

Bicep on iicon will be busier than four tet last year which was stupidly busy.
