Thursday camping spot

I've been reading lots of stories where people arriving thurs last year really struggled to find somewhere to camp, that has me worrying.  We are arriving by coach thurs morning - will we be searching for hours?

We have previously camped in Pylon, Pennards and Paines.  I know we wont get in any of the popular places but where is likely to have space based on last years camping area changes?

We have a 4 man tent and none of our other mates got tickets this year so we have no one to take it in for us earlier

Thanks 🙂

As soon as you come through the gates there is a map with the camping areas showing which are full and which have spaces. Usually lots of stewards about to ask as well. They will have the up to date info and asking them could save you a lot of unnecessary walking

Our group got there on Thursday last year, quite late too after the coach driver got lost, and we managed to get into South Park 1 or 2 - not quite sure which and there was a lot of space near the back.

That did mean we were right on the super fence but it was pretty chill and despite a lengthy walk to the arenas I’d recommend camping there regardless of whatever day you arrived. But as stated above, stewards will definitely be on hand to direct you.

We arrived Thursday morning last year with similar worries having previously camped in Pylon. However we easily got a large family tent and a 2 man tent pitched next to eachother in the SW section of Darble with plenty of space around us.

We stewards info boards will guide you but you're basically looking at the fields on the western fringes - darble, baileys, backhouse, dairy, rigs, South park 1 etc

We're arriving via Castle Cary shuttle on Friday morning with a 3 man tent to pitch. Went in Lime Kiln last year arriving at a similar time and it was awful - the only space left was on a tremendous gradient and the nearest water point is at the far end of Hitchin Hill.

Thinking Darble this time might be the play, or Bushy Ground. Both were showing as full on the campsite messages last year but the aerial shots I've looked at suggest that maybe they have a little more space than Lime Kiln actually had.
