Think that's a fair definition. I am against heritage acts on principle, but have seen for ex. the Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive and the Pixies at EOTR, none of which felt like a nostalgia acts.
We’ve done Amsterdam route before, but it felt a drag going back. We now stick to the Cologne route tbh. Looked at others, but we find the flights from Manchester-Cologne are always the cheapest, often by some distance and it’s an easy train from where we live. Bagged £35 each way this time, and the trains to the site are much more regular (and easier) from Cologne. It’s just the train to either Aachen or Heerlen and then connect to Landgraaf. The Aachen route goes through Heerlen too. The connection to Landgraaf is every 20min or so when you google, but they actually have festival specials from the Thursday of Pinkpop which seem like they are just constant. We stopped in a hotel in Heerlen last time and seemed like a festival special was waiting every time. No queues and no unpleasant overcrowding.
Then they have shuttle buses from the Landgraaf station to the various gates, or it’s a 20 min walk to Campsite A or 30min to arena. Always great to stop for a drink at the makeshift bars / stalls at Landgraaf station or dotted around Landgraaf village.
Flying back in 23, there was a few artists using the Cologne route to get from the festival and back to the U.K as well. We were sat next to The Lathums on our flight (I didn’t watch their set..)! And, Only The Poets I think was the other, who were sat a few rows behind us. Again, I’d not watched their set!🤣
