Didn't hear many complaints from Liverpool fans, in relation to the ghost goal against Chelsea a few years back.

It's got zilch to do with refereeing standards, more that you are a victim from it.

Liverpool v City champions league final 1-1.

95th minute and Liverpool get a soft penalty, are Liverpool fans complaining? Of course not, it's to your advantage.

It's like for years the likes City and Newcastle fans moaning about chelsea's billions. Now they are loving it. Even down the pyramid, are Wrexham fans moaning about having a chance.of the championship because of the owners.

Football fans are only interested when ot goes against then

I'm not loving our billions. It's better than Ashley but it's still a bit soulless. I'm sure my hypocrisy will rear in full whenever we win a trophy but I don't think I'll be able to enjoy it as much. That's the game now though.

surely as a supporter of an obviously different team you want better refereeing standards than being divisive on the matter ? or is there an issue that someone you dont like might just be proved right .... ? Im a Liverpool fan but dont want replays but I also dont want shite refereeing that spoils the games ?

I'm not targeting you here, but a lot of Liverpool fans online have loved to make the claim that they're just holding referees to account "for the good of the game". It's bullshit. Liverpool fans complain because they've felt aggrieved, and Klopp, more than any other manager in the last 30 years, has fed into a a mentality of victimhood and conspiracy amongst fans.

I just want fair standards and I think if those were the case then Liverpool would be net beneficiaries , however if Liverpool have won something where the decision has been poor then it should work the other way .... this ref shouldn't be reffing in the premier league and its unlikely to be an isolated one sadly .... European refs does seem a better idea in my opinion with all the money being thrown around in that league . However grumpy Klopp may get I love his morals and absolute passion for the job  sometimes he seems over the top to others .... I think mourihno and Fergy were equally as passionate and probably equally as disliked ..

Fergie was more disliked than klopp, which he and utd fans knew in general. The dislike for fergie and utd drove it all to the success we had.

Klopp and Liverpool fans on the other hand, think there's this universal love for klopp and Liverpool in general.

The thing is, I think Klopp deserves to be compared to Mourinho and Fergie in how toxic they were to referees, broadcasters, and frankly, most people in the game outside their club.

The media present Klopp as this paragon of virtue that's loved by everyone except Liverpool's rivals.... I always had more of a soft spot for Liverpool than a lot of the other big clubs - until Klopp's whining got to me.

Liverpool fans and Klopp aren't protecting football, or being some inspiration for everyone else in the game. It's just grievance mining and delusion, supported by the large number of ex-Liverpool players in punditry.

Absolutely. I still laugh whenever Man U lose to an extra time goal after years of hating the impact of "Fergie time". But most Man U fans know and understand that and take it in decent spirits. If you're from a not-rival club and you laugh at a Liverpool loss, you're likely to get accused of wanting big oil clubs to win the league every year, and told that you should be grateful someone challenged Pep's City to give interesting title races.

2005 is a few years back now? Same year that the lino let Roy Carroll get away with letting a Spurs shot go about 10 yards behind the line if I'm not mistaken.

Admittedly we can play the game forever. I know some Newcastle fans who hate officials for crap decisions made against us in the 1970s.

Most I know are more than happy that everyone else hates us. Who wants other supporters enjoying their team's success?

Certainly never met a Liverpool fan that isn't a massive twat, that's for sure.

I did grow up in the 80s when liverpool won everything, so will be bitter to my grave. 😃

Strangely, I've got a few mates who are Utd fans, worked with plenty of them in Salford for a while and they were mostly ok (and this was during the treble winning era).

Most people are alright as long as you don't mention football, maybe I'm too easy going. Having said that, every Man City fan I've got to know has been a colossal knob head.

I would be argue every fan think their team would be the beneficiaries of fair refereeing.

I mean, it's not hard to be better at running a club than Ashley given how he seemed to check out long before the offer came in.

There's rumours he's been sniffing around Championship clubs for a while but nobody seems to have been taken in by his hand just yet. Although apparently he owns the Coventry stadium, making for a bit of a strange odd couple alliance.

I'm mainly more grated that buying tickets to Newcastle home games now requires you to also have a club membership at an extra £35-45 a go and go through the process of a ballot to even get tickets. Even if we're not alone in that - seems to be that buying an extra paid-for membership is now a requirement for acquiring tickets at most Premier League clubs. Either that or using dodgy touting places.

It's why I stick to European games and domestic cups at utd. As they are usually available without the yearly subscription which is a massive scam.

I’d probably agree but the conversation has come from a starting place of a chat with a ref with obvious anti Liverpool bias … so that’s influenced my post

Most clubs can debate about certain refs having bias.

Michael Oliver for example, who seems to favour clubs with Etihad Airways on there shirt. Even happened in Europe last week.

Problem I have with Liverpool fans,  claiming its all about improving refereeing standards. Is that they are only up in arms when it's against Liverpool. If they wanted standards to improve, wouldn't they be on it no matter what club?

Liverpool fans are hypocrites, always have been. Same case as any other fan from any other club.

im telling you here I want better for all fans and whatever club and im a Liverpool fan so you can possibly change the all Liverpool fans approach now .... things are much better won when its fair cant think of anyone that wouldnt disagree on that , and obviously it needs to start somewhere , this looks pretty obvious to me but I reckon hell likely get dropped down a league until end of season and make his way back up but probably not ref Liverpool games again ... we will see

I'd be more convinced, if you came on the forum discussing other refereeing disastrous decisions.

Rather when it's just Liverpool, then claiming its for the good of the game.

Didn't hear much when West Ham got a dodgy one against United.

everyone surely talks most about their own teams ? dont think thats odd ... happy to acknowledge mistakes happen elsewhere though and thats why I was talking a few posts back about having European refs refereeing the Premier League .... not just Liverpool games

And all they care about is there own teams.

If utd got a dodgy pen from a ref, I certainly wouldn't be moaning about refereeing decisions. Neither would Liverpool fans, on the receiving end you moan. Thats a natural reaction.

But good lord, no fan in world football talks hypocritical nonsense like Liverpool fans.

Seems like Newcastle are yet to be in such a place where those games have less demand. All the Champions League games sold out last season, as did a Carabao Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon a few weeks ago.

Others seem to have that tbf. I did clock that Nottingham Forest sold out for the Newcastle game last Sunday on a member's only arrangement, but went to general sale (and still had about 5-6,000 empty seats) when we went to that same stadium in August for a Carabao affair.
