I agree with this, which is why I think football shirts have no place at a music festival!

You see more than you'd think tbf. I went to Truck Festival in 2019 and there was a stall selling loads of vintage kits, almost all bizarrely being of Bundesliga clubs. Plus I seem to recall Sports Team's lead singer wearing a Toon top during his band's set.

Noel Gallagher went a bit further at Rock Werchter, bringing Kompany on stage with him. 🤨

I don't see an issue with football tops, see more at overseas who have a more international audience. It's quite a good atmosphere, especially the supporters of Holland/Germany/Belgium during football summers.

I'm aware you can see a football/music pollination, particularly in international tournaments. Hell, I chose not to see The Killers on the night of the England Euros semi final and missed seeing the two worlds colliding with the band choosing to broadcast the last 2/3 minutes of it in the middle of their set then play Mr Brightside as a celebration when England won.

everyone surely talks most about their own teams ? dont think thats odd ... happy to acknowledge mistakes happen elsewhere though and thats why I was talking a few posts back about having European refs refereeing the Premier League .... not just Liverpool games

Feel like a lot of fanbases take a conspiracy mindset tbh. Arsenal's are derided for being among the worst offenders but every club has elements who think the referees hate them.

Coote's not helped the PGMOL with this, mind. Their PR department is going to have to work overtime on this one.

I'm still bitter about foo fighters and james getting short sets at Glastonbury 1998, as they showed the England game on the main stage.

Not a fan of international football...

I’d probably agree but the conversation has come from a starting place of a chat with a ref with obvious anti Liverpool bias … so that’s influenced my post

I am fairly neutral about Liverpool, but my son supports them so I like them to do well for him. To me the video didn’t show someone with an anti Liverpool bias, it showed a video of someone who didn’t like Klopp. There is a few key points here.

1. It is perfectly possible a referee can not like a manager or a player without being biased against their team. I guarantee referees throughout history have thought managers were c**** without showing bias when they refereed the games.

2. I am an NHS community worker and there have been some patients and carers I have worked with which may fit the c*** description. Doesn’t impact on the care they get because I like to think I am professional.

3. I liked Klopp when he started but I think in later years he met that C*** criteria many times with his regular moaning. I personally think sanctions need to be tougher against managers in these cases.

4. To me this is not evidence of bias but lack of professionalism and stupidity. On this basis he deserves punishment, if Liverpool has evidence of bias then I think they need to submit it to authorities.

Strangely, I've got a few mates who are Utd fans, worked with plenty of them in Salford for a while and they were mostly ok (and this was during the treble winning era).

Most people are alright as long as you don't mention football, maybe I'm too easy going. Having said that, every Man City fan I've got to know has been a colossal knob head.

This was talked about before given Alan Pardew's insane 2014, when he was first handed a warning and fined for calling Man City's then-boss Manuel Pellegrini a "f**king old c**t" during a bad-tempered game between Newcastle and Man City, and then not even six weeks later thought headbutting a Hull City player was a good idea, for which the book was thrown at him with a bigger fine and a stadium ban.

I'm aware few managers even at their worst go in such a hysterical direction, but the referee situation doesn't feel great. It feels like a lot of managers are just too content to whip up this conspiracy culture where the referees somehow hate everyone.

The alleged follow-up stuff in one of the tabloids yesterday hints that Coote may have ventured down a dark path indeed and that the authorities investigating may have to be very thorough and think carefully about what's next.

Suspended until next season on full pay would be a good call.

The only way managers will stop going after the referees is to put punishments in place that act as an incentive. Points penalties against the clubs and they would soon stop.

I don't think there's a big issue in recent years. Fergie was bad at it, klopp was equally as bad.

Over all though it isn't a major issue.

Referees don't help themselves though. A manager got sent off last week, for a slight rule break as the ball was going out and he stopped off the line.

Gutter press are gunn8ng for Coote, do they never learn.

The allegations seem like a very different issue to the initial spark question of refereeing bias, much as it's still a question people wish to ask and at a time on whether we could have a crisis in refereeing down the line given we seem to be actively trying to put people off applying to become refs.
