There's nothing I want to see

ah sorry to hear that, I guess a price to pay for all the exposure over the years - I suffer with tinnitus myself and wear plugs these days. I remember you from Buckley’s parties (unless I’m mistaken) so we’ve both been at it for years now! 😂

I think the freedom also comes from being older and having been around the block a bit… there isn’t much generally I’m desperate to see that I haven’t already seen, probably more than once so I’m a lot more chilled.

Hope you have a good one!

Ah, good old Buckley's parties - great times! The Ibiza Villa place came up on a travel program recently!

Genuinely.

For the first time in 10, I have no burning desire to see anything pre-planned, from a list of thousands of things!
Having zero pressure to try and make anything, or find a spot, or trek from one part of the site to another, is kinda glorious.

It'll be strange printing out a Clashfinder to not use it. To not have something I am clock-watching over because I need to get somewhere.

I assume I'm an outlier, but who knows?!

I'm in a similar boat. Definitely the worst lineup in 10 festivals for me. There's only a few things I'm really interested in going to see and nothing is an absolute must really. Treating it as a positive as the opportunity cost of going to stuff other people in the group want to see is lower and we have 2 noobs with us this year and 3 kids in our group of 7. Just going to go with the flow a bit more.

I'm working this year, and for me this is the perfect year to do it. I won't know what I have to miss until I get there and see my shifts, but I really don't mind. There's more than enough interesting stuff to keep me happy when I have free time.

I'm just really getting excited now even without any must-see's.

I have only 23 things to see on my list - if I was brutally honest I could trim that down to 7 things - I have got 3 or 4 that I thought that sounsd like a bit of fun - or what a rediculous name lets have a gander. Psycho acoustic Goat, Psycedelic Porn Crumpets and jabba the slut  are three of them - the remaining things are really only geral I'll aim for that but If I get distracted by something ont he way - thats cool too

Psycho-acoustic Goat are great fun, @Seldom Seen Kid and I went to see them a couple of years ago for basically the same reason as you and they really delivered

Was speaking to mates over the weekend who are coming this year and we said the same. There are acts we want to see but nothing completely must-see.

This is my 13/14th festival (and the 20th anniversary of my 1st) - and to be honest, I think this is a liberation! Just completely wing it all 😄

its time to reconsider your festival choices, to find what floats your boat.

I went to see Psychedelic Porn Crumpets in Manchester solely on the strength of their name… fantastic gig, can’t recommend them enough

Reminds me of going in the 90s and early 2000s when I didn't know or care who was playing mainly because of the lack of social media and hype over the line up.

You'll have an amazing time just wandering around seeing what takes your fancy.

It’s a cracking line up this year with a lovely lack of old duffers clogging up the Pyramid

Sorry but line up is rubbish this year.  Compared to 2022 and 2023 this year is a let down.   I will miss this year like crazy and had a chance to get a local Sunday ticket but sorry SZA and Shania Twain no chance.

I think it's a great line up as actually there's nothing overwhelmingly dominating the whole discourse of the festival. It feels more eclectic and less trying to compete this year which I feel is a bonus.

Perhaps that’s one way of looking at it.  Hopefully with such a poor lineup then it won’t be so busy at the main stages.  Last year was mental on the Weds and Thursday and I hate to say it but the lovely weather just makes you wanna flake out and relax.  The downside is that the Park field was rammed on both days and just not enough places to get out of the heat.

Very interesting discussion, this is certainly the "worst" line up for me, probably ever (after around 20 Glastonburys) but as others have said it takes a lot of pressure off.  With fewer (or no) must sees you are free to wander without guilt, after every festival I regret not having seen X even though it wasn't actually possible, you can't see everyone, this time will be far easier, mentally and physically, won't have to race across the site to try to catch a part of a set just so I can say i saw them. Hopefully this will have an effect on the overcrowding / pinch point issue too, if people are not so fussed maybe they will be less crowding between sets and the crowd will be more spread out over the site.

I dont think the lineup is that good but even just skimming through the clashfinder i found enough to have an enjoyable day. So yeah, pass that ticket along lol

The Pyramid Stage makes the whole thing look weaker than it is imo. There's nothing I would be truly desperate or think I should see on it, except possibly Shania Twain, but there's still enough elsewhere that I wouldn't consider my weekend wasted.

... admittedly I'm not going but still.

I remember one year in the early 2000s there was only 1 band I was really bothered about seeing (can’t remember which now!) so I just wandered and had the best time as always…

Most of my best memories at Glastonbury are not music related, they’re random things I stumbled across in theatre and circus, getting involved in some crazy mission or discovering a secret one off thing.. that’s where the magic happens.

There's very little I'm gagging to see but a lot I wouldn't mind seeing. As I don't know my shifts, I've purposefully not delved into timings of sets so will just see which breeze takes me where

There's enough for me and loving the fact that that it's less likely to be rammed re Elton John style this year. Back to basics - love it.

As much as Reg was a huge coup, I honestly enjoyed it less than most acts I’ve seen on the big stage for that reason. Ended up half way up the field, despite having arrived before the sub came on, got so pushed around in the crowd it was nuts. Just too busy. Seen EJ before and wish I’d gone somewhere else TBH.

Tried entering the crowd half way down but pathes in were rammed and figured how do I get out for a piss in a 3 hour set! Ended up by the bogs on some high ground over to the left. Was fine actually - good view from there.

I don't normally do Pyramid headliners, for various reason. But did have a blast at Elton, top highlight. We did, however, have a good crowd around us.
