Feel like I would've skipped a lot of the crowded areas as well, lol. Sugababes? Shania? No thanks. Would've been tempted by Avril, but pretty much for one song, and Bicep, prob wouldn't have made a huge effort to see either. Did notice in 2023 that the food options, even later on when it's usually quieter around 8-9pm and everyone's already had their dinner, we're noticeably busier. Had to make do with Mac n cheese because erything else had a queue 30-40 deep. -
At least I’ve learned yesterday that Rock Werchter is just not for me anymore. What could have been a great festival day just ended being a bit of a mess — but at least I managed to get a good spot for Dua Lipa. I was exhausted from an early flight and a week of gigs in the UK so my judgment might be biased, but I feel like a lot of things have changed for the worse since the last time I went (2017/2018). - Overcrowded from early on, as said above. The days when you could easily switch from one stage to another and get a good spot in a few minutes is gone. - Main stage access raises a few questions. The front stage is way wider than it was before, isn’t it? Saw a few red crosses during the day though the pit was not always full. - Sound quality at the Barn was not good during Janelle and got told it was not any better when TLDP was on. - Food prices have always been a joke at Werchter but it’s getting absolutely ridiculous. Last week Live is Live wasn’t particularly cheap either but at least food selections were more than decent. Nowadays at Werchter you’re just paying 14€ for the most basic hamburger. When do we stop normalizing this? - Dua Lipa was great as expected but did not deserve such a cold crowd. Oh and who had the idea to put Khruangbin at that spot?

Yeah, I kinda agree with the rush for a bit of convenience, esp with the talk of apps showing crowd sizes, drones, mission statements, etc. I like Glastonbury because it's not like any other festival. The craft fields, the healing fields, places like that, it's so much nicer being detached for a few days from everything. Augmented reality, I mean, do I really need that when the festival is already a sight to behold already? I'd much rather stay in the analogue world. -
I was at Joy Orbison's set at Levels on the Thursday, and it was absolutely sublime. I loved it so much. Made up for not being able to get into Kelly Lee Owens on Friday (wounded not to see her - ginormous queue at Levels like Benny said (great review BTW mate) despite leaving fatboy half an hour early to get there). It was the first time i have seen him, having discovered during the run-up to the fest when doing the usual forensic checking out of the line-up. Incidentally one of my favourite things is how elements of the line-up year on year will become more or less relevant over time as my tastes evolve. So i'm sure there will be things i listened to and decided to avoid this year, that in say 2027 will be right up my alley. What a festival. Justice eclipsed their 2017 set for me, which takes some doing. That and Joy Orbison were in a dead heat for most enjoyable electronic set of the weekend for me. Anyway - long shot, but would anyone have an inkling of where either the track ID list or sound-desk recording of Joy Orbison's Levels set could be found? Or would it just be a case of keep an eye out and hope to get lucky on soundcloud or youtube? Ta!
