I'm not sure Neil Young actually has to be there for it to be brilliant. Four-dimensional chess-like thinking. I dig it.

Far more party starter than Neil Young coughing through The Needle and the Damage Done. (I would be very happy with Neil Young too, let me stress.) If Cat Stevens can play Legends slot then so can Neil Young. Just book some braindead party act to play the Pyramid after Young to keep those other punters happy. wro_lap
I was happy enough with Rod, now my hopes are firmly up for Neil! He's one of Michael's favourite artists, and I remember he said he was really keen to get him playing in 2020. Might be a bucket list item for Michael to see him on the farm again... NorthernSoul52
How is Michael's health right now? He didn't appear too good in the flashes I saw this year.
Jamm
Why has this Neil Young rumour come from? I don’t want to believe. I can’t let myself believe. If Neil is there then I really don’t care who else is there, you can have McFly, Girls Aloud and Peter Kay headline if the festival got Neil and I wouldn’t complain one iota. 1

The Peter Kay rumour is a wind up dug up from years ago by the same person - see update in the thread. That part of the post was tongue in cheek hence why he was listed next to McFly and Girls Aloud as headliners. I’m fully aware Peter Kay will not be headlining. balti-pie
oooh, Neil Young. Bloody hell. Even just as a rumour its got me smiling a silly grin. one million percent there, camping out at the pyramid all day type stuff. would even get the old incontinence pants out for that one 👍
DomDom1984
Hadn't even considered Gary Barlow. I'm a fan of Take That, so would definitely be seated for it. And it doesn't seem wildly unbelievable.
Fred Zepplin
From Neil Young to Gary Barlow in the blink of an eye. Why do we do it to ourselves every year
NorthernSoul52
Gary Barlow surely not Legends material on his own, though?
JayDiesel
My concern with Barlow would be that it almost confirms that the Pyramid Stage is now just a glorified 'Radio 2 in the Park'. I appreciate it's there to provide the biggest suction of crowd, but it's been remarkably bland, a handful of acts aside, for the last few years. The Legends Slot is admittedly the most R2ITP slot at the fest - other than maybe the 12pm Pyramid opener - but at least there have been a lot of actual legends in the last decade; Dolly, Jeff Lynne, Diana Ross. Surely we can't have fallen as far as the Barlow?
Jamm
Barlow could well perform - but it certainly wouldn’t be the legends slot.

DomDom1984
I've never seen Neil Young as a possible for the slot btw. If Barlow doesn't play that slot, I don't see him playing anywhere else on the bill.

OllieMadd
You're all insane for thinking Gary Barlow could play the legend slot at Glastonbury. Things are getting mental in here
