I'm on the AM forums a bit and while it seems likely they won't be back with an album any time soon, nothing seems as final as you are suggesting. Initially (2023) it came from the same place at lot of the Glastonbury stuff comes from. I did, however, end up locked in conversation with someone who'd spent a fair bit of time with the band a few months back. I decided to ask him (after half a dozen lagers) assuming he'd tell me where to go, but he essentially said the same thing had been said to him... directly. I was told likely solo and/or TLSP 3 when I first got the info. The conversation I had a few months back suggested that Alex is really keen to go down the film score route (not to say solo/TSLP couldn't still happen in the coming years). I suspected it myself tbh during The Car tour. Various subtle signs. When they finished on Perfect Sense in Dublin it felt a bit like a moment in time, to me. I would never go see him in concert but he is a genuine legend of music so the chance to see him live is something that I'd only get at Glasto. I agree I would've preferred Neil Young, but with the benefit of hindsight, he wouldn't really have fit the direction they've gone with this slot in recent years And yeah, Rod Stewart's voice ain't what it was, but that's the case with most of the legends that have played in the last decade or so. If they were at the top of their game still, they'd be headlining rather than playing mid-afternoon He has a huge back catalogue of singalong songs (albeit plenty aren't his originally); it'll be great fun

My son and I used the "will never see him in concert" logic when we stayed put after Roger Waters - the real headliner - rather than go to Air. Worse Glasto choice we ever made!! Rod was so-so at best, whilst Air by all accounts were fabulous
CharlotteB
Can't believe I missed this announcement by about five hours! It's nice to know the density of people will be diverted to the Pyramid Stage whilst knowing I won't really be missing out on much.

My sentiment exactly - for every one of me and you - there will people extremely excited by this news, flocking to the Pyramid in their droves. It will be dependent on who is on elsewhere but id literally bet my left testicle right now that there will be something on somewhere that I'll enjoy and appreciate more than a bit of Rod (pun intended)

It seems weird that we got rumours for two former headliners moving to Legend's Slot at the same time? Booking an old legend 2 years in advance certainly has it obvious risks! "As someone without a ticket, I get absolutely no FOMO from this booking." Unlike some on here I wholeheartedly apologise. Something in my head obviously was elsewhere (probably discombobulated by my unfortunate personal dislike of 2 of the rumored headline trio and then Rod being announced).... as my response was, in fact.... addressed to the complete opposite of what you said. # Hangs head in shame

Watergirl
Happy with this. Have always wanted to see him, but not wanted to part with lots of money for it. His back catalogue is fantastic, particularly the early stuff. I have a 3 CD box called 'The complete Mercury studio recordings' which is great. doogie
Rod doesn't do many festivals, but when he headlined the Radio 2 Festival in Hyde Park a few years ago, he used the occasion to play his more obscure and long forgotten hits, which disappointed a lot of people who were there for a singalong. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rod-stewart/2015/hyde-park-london-england-bf4bd32.html I wonder if he'll do the same this time.
