I think so too, in my not so learned opinion Rod (massive) Fender (medium - large) Rodrigo (medium, there are only so many 20 somethings on site) 1975 (small) - depending on who they put on the Other this could be very small. You’re completely underselling Fender and The 1975 there - they’ll both have massive crowds, Fender most of all who is huge with both the youth and a lot of older people given his Bruce-like qualities. Just to add to the comments above I think you’re massively underselling O-Rod too - I’m 44 (not 20 something) and of the three she’s the one I’d like to see the most.
NorthernSoul52
Aye, don't think any of these crowds pull less than a half-full field, and in the case of Fender, expect him to be notably stacked. We're not in for an enomo-headliner crowd, a la Elton John last year or Coldplay this year. But all three won't look like SZA in the dusk, I'd wager. jonnytee1
At first I wasn’t too sure with those headliners and let’s face facts, nothing is nailed on or certain until they’ve been announced. the more I think about it - they are reasonably bold headliners and show the festival is moving with the times. I think 2 of the three plus a Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Stevie wonder Sunday would make it exceptionally strong. However it’s not weak by any stretch of the imagination and, like I’ve said a million times and will say a million times more - there’s ALWAYS something else going on at Glasto if you don’t like the headliners. Yeah was tempted to say large for Fender and you’re probably right. Stick by the 1975 being very meh for the majority.

Nothing scientific at all and could be way off. Just based on previous crowd sizes when I’ve been at the festival and my puddled brain. Rodrigo could be very big, Fender also. The 1975 I really don’t think so. I don’t think a majority of the UK even know who they are. His parents are far more famous.

To most people I know under forty, Denise Welch is Matty Healy's mum, rather than Matty Healy is Denise Welch's son.

Sure, but this year I'm predicting he'll have the biggest crowd. Last 3 years we've had huge Coldplay, John and McCartney crowds. Honestly, even with those presales being a bit slow, I think we're underestimating Fender if he is there. Sunday night, great weather, everybody on the cider, locals through the door, all the woaaaaah-oh-ohs you can shake a stick at? That's 2022. Know there is more competition as a headliner - bigger acts on a myriad of other stages - but he's not exactly dropped off since this point.

I would say for my peers and people I chat to about music with everyone knows Fender and has listened to his tunes. He’s very popular with us oldies. Everyone has heard of Rodrigo and may have a passing curiosity in the latest huge bubblegum pop star. I have never once heard the 1975 come up in conversation and would be surprised if a majority of people my age could name one of their songs. I think he's fine as a headliner and the only one who I'd potentially see (depending on clashes, 0 chance of me being at 1975 or Rodrigo) and there is a 0% chance of any of them having an embarrassingly small crowd like Sza but as the pre sales show, he's not on the level of some of the other artists out there now. He's fine, but not spectacular.

I'll agree there happily - Fender has more cross-generational appeal, while Rodrigo is omnipresent as a radio staple to most people with families these days. Conversely, I do think there's a handful of songs the over-forty crowd would recognise - The Sound, for example, or Chocolate, or Somebody Else or maybe even Love It If We Made It, which crossed over in a few different ways - but very much appreciate they do not have the typical chart life that the other two in question do. If it is one of the three, I'd back Fender.

It seems to be completely personal bias on The 1975 then - you think Healy is a tosser, fair enough, that's your take. They are massive currently - sell out arena shows instantly and one of the few tours in recent times where it was almost impossible to pick up a resale ticket nearer the dates. Their chart record also disproves the idea they're a small band. They will absolutely smash it.

I'm not a 'big fan' I've seen them live a couple of times and think they're well overdue a headline slot and have a much bigger appeal than those who have an obviously biased personal dislike of the band/Healy are willing to admit. It might well be the smallest of the 4. So?
