It might well be the smallest of the 4. So? Exactamundo. Somebody has to be. Doesn't mean the set is a failure.

NorthernSoul52
Perhaps Rod can honour the absence of Oasis by whipping out his cover of Cigarettes and Alcohol.

I let it slide when you claimed Rodney’s set would rival Elton for a bangerfest but not having this I’m afraid.

Was kind of fine last Sunday after dabbing down in the sale, but this has left me genuinely gutted. Wouldn't give a flying one about missing Annie Lennox doing her no big hits - but this has broken me. Ah, man. I hadn't realised you'd missed out. Are you going for the resale or made other plans? But I saw her live and she didn't do it.

Dunno man. Kind of hasn't sunk in yet. We have a largish team that all missed out so even if we sneak 4 of us in in April it likely won't be the same. As is we're all a little unspun and discombobulated. Some folk hollering for Sziget and so on, but a long way to go for probably ropey lineup. She's got the pipes I know. But genuinely think Rod is a much better booking. He's less earnest and self-serious. He doesn't think that every time he sings it has to be to try to stop a famine. He's having a laugh in a largely terrible world, and that - I think - is valuable.

Yeah not gonna disagree with that logic. As others have said, perfect for the slot even if personally it’s the first skippable Legend since ELO. NorthernSoul52
I'm going to say four different shirts for Rod and two jackets. Taking bets over or under from early January.

A travesty ELO are even considered this, some of the most sublime seventies pop out there, even if Jeff Lynne has always had the stage patter of a statue that has fallen over in an empty warehouse. NorthernSoul52
Always a place on the bill to balance both. Think Cat Stevens and Rick Astley. Astley probably had more fun than anybody at '23 though, tearing all over the shop.

Tend to agree with this take on the solo ‘hits’…however in my book there’s around 10 Eurythmics songs that are really strong. I’d still go see Lennox if she played, but if Rod’s on top form I don’t see why he can’t be up there with many who’ve done the Legend slot. Would certainly be an anti-climactic Legend. Rod’s got the lot and most people will know most of the songs - a few rockers, some genuine arms-in-the-air singalong ballads, cheesy disco numbers, the potential for some surprise guests and a still sizeable, and adoring fanbase.
