It’s a very good concert. Really happy. Hoping for Linkin Park next and not very confident about Green Day, but let’s see… I feel Green Day are the Foo Fighters of the next edition.

For a 3 Day festival LP, Green Day and Olivia would be OK. The issue with Werchter is they are going 4 days with a weaker overall look.

I dont mind her

but its a week 1st headliner, she played Lisbon 5 months ago…

She played two gigs that sold out in less than 24 hours, so offer < demand. That being said, makes perfect sense and the timings for announcements are not just the festival responsibility.

Yeah, im not a fan but her headlining makes perfect sense. She sold out 2 nights super fast here and u can see the feedback on social media she was one of the most requested names from the pop world alongside sabrina carpenter

So it's not weak in any sense is it.

For me festivals are for the bands that are very unlikely to do headline shows in Portugal, Green Day, Red Hot, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters (Just a few names for example), all of them hasn’t had a headline show in Portugal for several years, so festivals are really the only way to see bands like this.

Olivia did 2 headline shows less than 6 months ago, wich to me makes this a disapointing 1st announcement.

but this are just my 2 cents

i actually really like Olivia 🙂

Pearl jam doesnt do headline shows in portugal because since 2006 they only tour europe during the summer and everything is new is the only promoter who beings them and of course financialy is better to bring them to nos alive because they will sell out in less than 24 hours all daily tickets for the day they are in alongside 3 days tickets and 2 tickets that includes pearl jam day. Happenned in 2018 and in 2024.

Pearl jam alone would see 2 headline shows in the place where nos alive is held, im 200% sure of it.

Assuming the second headliner will be one of Green Day or Linkin Park, I wonder if the 3rd day might be be two co-headliners, on the more 'credible' indie/dance side. LCD Soundsystem & Justice maybe.

Actually, this is a very good perspective… I can see it happening, since Green Day is very unpredictable at this point. Linkin Park, on the other hand, I think we’ll get them.

LCD soundsystem and justice as co headliners would be a terrible seller in portugal

Covoes can also hire Green Day outside the festival, but performs the show on the festival grounds, days after NOS Alive as it has done in recent years.

as of now the last Green Day date is July 6th , NOS is either 11th or 12th.

they would need at least around 2/3 dates to be able to play Portugal , even more if they play after NOS.

they are already booked in italy, austria, germany, denmark, norway, luxemburg, belgium, netherlands and greece.

which countries would be left for them to play ?

one would assume spain but with already 2 shows last year there and the bad blood between the band and Mad Cool , you only have bilbao BBK as an viable option on july 9th or July 10th.

One date in Spain is essential. The rest are days off. Perfectly ordinary.

Bilbao BBK could easily be that date in Spain...
Also people are writing off mad cool, because of what happened, I was there on the day, very tragic, very hard for everyone.

But if they have the money, I think they would come back, simple as that.

Arctic Monkeys' refusal to come back to Mad Cool in 2018 over the more trivial thing that was being annoyed at the festival revealing them early and deciding to instead do two nights by themselves at the arena in Madrid makes me less sure that Green Day would be in so forgiving a mood over the 2017 tragedy.
