i dont believe for a second that a band of the size of green day today would announce shows for july next year in the same year.

I think they could but it feels likelier that if they are still negotiating a show in Spain, it's a sign it won't be at an established festival. At the very least I strongly doubt they're going to be washing up at Mad Cool thanks to history and a claim that the missing headliner is announced, just not yet cleared to be announced.

 

Ofc this is presuming that is the case and that the account is not in fact just giving false hope to Spanish Green Day fans.

Monday - Someone I have never heard of, who got big via TikTok
Tuesday - generic indie band
Wednesday - Band I like but have seen plenty of times before
Thursday - Nothing but speculation
Friday - 3rd Headliner that will wow everyone

Or something like that anyway.

Looking at what's available elsewhere I imagine they'll want to jump back in with some bigger names, so wouldn't be shocked to see a Gracie Abrams, Weezer or Kneecap coming up soon.

only headliner that would wow everyone at this point is Green day or Linkin Park and none of them are coming.

 

cant see any other artist or band that would have the "wow" effect other than them

I suppose it depends on which bands start to announce summer tours, but up to now it's not looking good for a 3rd headliner.

Green Day a headliner that 'wows' people? It's all very personal I guess but I think it's a pretty average band.

the demand for them here in portugal is pretty big.

 

if they were to come (which they are not) they would sold out pretty quickly

I don't think it's personal, it's about the numbers, Green Day sold out huge venues likr Wembley stadiums and many other last year and already have more sold out concerts this year again in Europe, and the portguguese public has bemn waiting  more than 10 years to seem them back in the country, it would sell like water in the desert for sure, unfortonally I don't think tey are coming.

Agree! But Linkin Park doesn't have a schedule compatible with the NOS, Green Day does but I don't think Alvaro can bring them. Sad for us

Would be in keeping with what they did before Christmas tbf.

 

It is a genuine question as to who that third headliner is though. Somebody said that they're apparently booked and lined up but we're waiting for a proclamation. Would've been a surprise if it had just been whacked online as a New Year present tbf.

Ok, big difference from their status in Belgium then. They're a big band for sure, but more in the category of The Killers and QOTSA. Here, at Rock Werchter, their day hasn't sold out, whereas Olivia Rodrigo sold out her day very quickly. (Last time they played Werchter, some time ago, sold really poorly as well). It's still a decent name of course, even today.

Few factors to consider though alongside this. Since Green Day played both Nos Alive (then Optimus) and Rock Werchter in 2013, they haven't played in Portugal at all. Whereas they have played Belgium 3 times (including next year's Werchter) and more surrounding countries a lot more frequently so the demand their has been easier to satisfy

Neil Young is the absolute dream for me. I can't see it happening, but you never really know.
