I don't want to go to Glastonbury with people who use tunnel servers, vpn re-routing systems or pay £900 for slots in the tickets queue or stop in a kubutz 2 miles away.

I want the hippies at Strummerville, the great unwashed, the ones who will go to the JP Tent at 11.30am as they half heard a song on 6 a year ago, the one getting a swedish massage and not just for instragram but, because there back hurts lugging the thatchers up the hill.

Amen

That's my take, too. Come the time tickets are on sale, there'll be nothing to do except stare at our screen(s), hoping it'll change as soon as possible. The idea that tickets may well sell out without any involvement from us at all will be jarring to say the least.

Those who, in the past got impatient after five minutes and started messaging their friends will have a better chance than usual.

Hi guys, what’s the general consensus of using the Cisco Secure Client VPN? It’s the general work one that we, and I think a lot of businesses, use. Or are we saying don’t connect to a VPN at all? Cheers

You can check your IP address on the Akamai website.

Note that not all Internet traffic is routed to a different IP address via a work VPN it depends on the rules. But either way you can check your ip address reputation

I think on Thursday once it's all over it will be analysed to death. Will we be any wiser? Probably not. 🙂

I’d agree with that. It will be the same mix of folk in the depths of despair or total joy. Some who got through for themselves and others who failed yet were in a big group. What will be interesting is the success rate on here, after Sundays bunfight. Usually quite a reasonable amount on here get tickets.

Quick question on strategy this year - there are eight of us going for tickets this year - in previous years we would have split into two groups of four and if one group was successful, all try for the second group.  However this year it feels like, if one group does get through, only buying four tickets (rather than six) is a potential waste of two guaranteed slots.  With the ten minute window and copious use of WhatsApp, I'm thinking there is less risk of getting bombed out for trying to buy tickets already allocated so we should use all six slots and then focus on the final two.

What do others think?

That’s tricky, two groups of four with a couple of other names ready to be added if  one group gets successfully on the booking page . A quick message to the other group to keep trying for the two left ticketless. At least six will be lucky.

Have a pre determined draw to see who gets to be the names added to the other group.

Six and two would make more sense in terms of getting as many as possible in, but who's going to want to be in the group of two?

Sorry I am a bit behind and there's so much to look through on this thread - do I need to get in the queue as early as possible or does the queue open as the tickets go on sale???

Some ticket sales open a waiting room beforehand but I assume if its random allocation that wont even matter?

No, just be in the queue any time before 9am, doesn't matter what the time of entry is.

That sounds like a political question for you and your group!

Who's related to who... who won't go if they dont go etc etc

Sorry only just catching up with all this. I know it will have already been asked but how will the system decide who to put in place 1 and who to put in place 100000000 in queue? Totally random and no chance at all if logging on after? Any benefit to joining a queue early? Will there be a 'waiting room' nonsense?

at face value random but some speculation from boffins that if you're doing anything they view as dodgy it could put you back of the queue or block you

why would anyone log on late?

no advantage in terms of placement but if it's like the oasis sale then it broke to the point you couldn't get in so i would get in asap

The place in the queue is random as long as you are in it before the sale starts. Join it after and you are at the back so almost zero chance.

The 'waiting room' is the page you are on before it starts and when it starts you get plonked in the queue where you sit and wait........................ I suggest a fun playlist to take your mind off being able to nothing to get in apart from wait.

Maybe start with Kate Bush, Running up that Hill

Shared IP - is akamai smart enough not punish you for using a work IP for instance (which other will also use to try buy tickets)?

My work VPN didn't work at all in previous years, though I was never quite sure whether it was blocked at our end or theirs
