Why dont they do something about the free labor. Oh right, they know thats how they stay afloat, so they let an extra 50,000 people onsite to make it happen for the rest who paid.

100% this. Never understand why Suprefan gets so much sh*t, he talks a lot of sense

Because there's many many more people who claim it worked for them. 54 people on one spreadsheet got tickets from 2 session tokens. There were countless other examples out there after this morning.

It was suggested long ago that it was going to work, when the CDN was analyzed before the sale, due to the way it works. Instead of completely killing the session upon a succesful sale, it relied solely on a timer (which seemingly didn't work perfectly either!)

Don't know why it didn't work for you, did you refresh as well, after hitting back? Did you go all the way back to the queue? Regardless, there are an overwhelming amount of people who claim that this is exactly how they secured so many groups on their spreadsheets, people I'd trust too.

It should be an easy fix, shouldn't have been left that way in the first place, and hopefully it will be sorted. But I tend to believe the huge number who claim they used it, purely due to the sheer number of them.

What was the timer set to? Just the ten mins? Because it's perfectly possible to go through entering reg to submitting payment details in less than 15 seconds.

10 minutes I think, but I've seen some people suggest they were backspacing for even longer than 10 minutes!!! So there's a chance that even that wasn't working properly.

You wouldn't want it much less than that though, due to the server issues, payment issues and how painfully slow the site can get in general, especially on a mobile device. I think when all said and done, after all of the blocked screens that I had to refresh through, and entering the data, then processing payment etc, I was a good 5 minutes just doing one.

So easy to keep the cookie if it's just edited and nothing changed on the CDN though. Probably best would be to admit to the loophole, threaten to cancel tickets using it and then actually follow through.

From the festival themselves:

""We take seriously any suggestion of these systems being exploited and are working with our ticket sellers, See Tickets, and their service providers to review and combat any alleged attempts to bypass or manipulate the queue process.""

Let's hope they do this and close the open doors.

I will also guess they are reading this and other sites so know what to look for and where.

Again, no expert, but if I understand this right, then when you get through the queue, the unique identifying data stored on the CDN, that your session token points to, should be edited to reflect that, and it will also be given a validity period.

But like I said, I'm no web developer these days, just a tinkerer. 🤣

That's the disappointing bit. If you had listened to the festival and followed what they said in good faith you were going nowhere. Essentially my group of 4 people trying for a ticket had getting on for 800 slots in the queue. If we took the festivals own FAQ at face value we would have had maybe 10. A simple configuration in Queue-it would have prevent that - or at least made it more difficult. As it was, they even provided a useful chime to easily see which tab had got through.

The data sec guys at my work did a session on the hosts exploit last year and how it should be handled from a communications point of view. They said Glastonbury should have cancelled those tickets - as they have the right - to send the message out and put people off trying their luck in the fear it'll backfire. They could do it again this year - queue-it will have recorded the fingerprint of each and every queue id that could easily be reviewed for any suspicious activity.

Instead everyone is just emboldened - do whatever you want to circumvent the system because See and Glastonbury don't care.

excellent post I fully agree thats what they should do and for resale without telling people until last min they should send the unique ids to emails no forewarning and when registration has closed so people cant fire up loads for at least the one sale that gives breathing space for a better system to come post fallow year

They aren’t necessarily saying that the tickets that breeched the terms and conditions will be cancelled though which is a bit of a shame because unless something is actually done about it and people see that there are consequences they will still try and game the system

Obviously a stock answer to everyone but at least it draws attention to the situation. I’m tempted to go old school and write them a letter. At least they usually reply on nice paper with the Glasto logo embossed on it.

Playing devils advocate...

I mean it's all well and good complaining to Gfl about this but it could possibly be viewed as a little hypocritical when most of the people here will have been using more than one device to try to gain an advantage in the sales.

Get your point but there are chasms of difference between 3 browsers and sites listing or selling links to take you around the queue as was shown on here yesterday.

Good luck with them trying to prove I didn't have a relative/friend/neighbour/small child/dog etc monitoring each one....

The thing is all the methods used this year - and last year - are easy to detect post sale. They could, if they wanted, go and cancel each and every one of those sales. It would send a big message and put those people off trying to game the system again next year which will do some to quell the spiraling arms race. Even if my own ticket was cancelled I would cry about it but wouldn't deserve any sympathy - I've pushed my luck and would behave myself in the resale knowing there was no point.

If the festival want a fair system they need to beef up the registration side of things and allow only one ballot per registration. Even better, make people group into their six before the ballot - say you log in at 9am ticket day and sort your group then your group is in the ballot.

As it is, I don't think they care that much. It was the touting that year that made them act - people taking a cut that could have gone to GFL and worthy causes. If anything, headlines of 6million 'people' trying for tickets (when that's just devices) help the festival.

The most bed wetting thing imaginable moaning to the festival / seetickets about the process.

Does anyone actually think they care?

About 80% of the attendees last year got a ticket via a backdoor link and they did f**k all about that 😂

Fair point but no different to the hack that was around for the last couple of years when probably thousands got tickets. For the record 4 of our 6 successful groups managed to get tickets using a single device as I suspect did the majority. Gaming the system has been around for a long time and there will always be complaints around it.

And this is coming from somebody that failed to get a ticket yesterday.

I refused the hack last year and got my tickets the standard way
