It would be a fairer system, but is that honestly what we really want. I may well just be morally bankrupt, but I imagine there’s a large chunk of people in this forum that just want the best chance at a ticket.

this is the nail on the head for me. Harking back to the quote from Emily a couple of pages back, I don't want people who aren't that bothered with an equal chance of getting tickets. I want the ticket buying to be a bit faulty in that it favours glasto obsessives.

They change to a 'fairer' system, you'll still have the hackers finding ways to cheat it, for the 99.9% of us who aren't that we just get our ticket chances greatly reduced.

If I were Glastonbury though, I'd be like, well why do we need to change? Tiny fraction 'cheated', but none went to touts, all went to people who want to attend. Sold all tickets. 'Smoother' sale than last year. Less money on IT security = more money for charity. If they ever got the data to say the majority of tickets were going via hackers fair enough, but it's probably a case of they'll cross that bridge when they come to it, likely never.

(For the record I was much more a fan of the refresh system, and they can easily close down the 'hacks' pertinent to that.)

because it's about to go bananas.

I'm only a little bit techie, I'm certainly not very web techie.  But if nothing changes then I'm going to find a way to create a absolute tonne of sessions in the resales, because that's going to be the only way to compete.

Just for the record. I've been going to Glasto since 1994. I have never missed one since. That's 30 years and I think, 24 Glastonburys. I joined this site in 1998. I was unlucky this year. Am I upset? No, disappointed but with that record, it's not unreasonable that others have an opportunity to attend instead. For years I have worked festivals with Oxfam, 20 years come 2025, somewhat as an insurance policy against this eventuality. I will use that facility to hopefully gain entrance this coming year (it's not a guarantee but it does give you a strong opportunity). I am not entitled to a ticket. I also think it's essential that those who have been less successful over the years than myself have an opportunity to attend. It is similarly essential that younger people than myself (just turned 52 this weekend) have an opportunity to attend and make it their festival. If I am successful in getting a work position, I will do my best to make it a fantastic festival for those who have been fortunate this weekend. Peace.

Nice post @Pinhead totally agree with all of it.

I'm happy for all the years me and my groups had, but new blood needs to get in.

So you've done Oxfam but not Glasto for 20 years? Our paths must have crossed lol.

If you guys think the bots are unfair, wait until you get to Glastonbury and see how many people are there with hospitality wristbands!

Hospitality keeps the prices down, as does glamping etc.

I know what i'm more annoyed about

Yep and also (contrary to some common assumptions) doesn't come out of the 142,000 public tickets. Reducing Hospitality allocations would not automatically free up those tickets for general public use.

I worked on the hospitality gates last year, and was absolutely befuddled by a couple late on the thursday- maybe about 8pm or 9pm, they went to leave, and didnt want a passout slip. They said they'd had a look around, and that was fun, and enough, and they wouldnt be going back in all weekend.

baffling!
