lets do this!
but my way would be to make the second weekend essentially a "worthy pastures" weekend... Worthy Pastures was wonderful and for me captured all that is special about Glastonbury.
they still dismantle the festival right after, but leave up the fence another week, keep a bunch of food traders and a couple of bars in place.
first weekend for people who want to be in constant over crowding, watching a bunch of crappy Wireless Festival rejects.
second weekend for people who want to enjoy being in the beautiful place that is Worthy Farm.
🙂
I know its fun, discussing the big mega acts - but personally lose more and more of my Glastonbury browsing the incredible range of up and coming bands. So i thought id go early and set up a thread. to share some thoughts and perhaps be great to share some awareness of these acts as-well. Stole the title from Sprints song then realised it might not be clear what it was lol.
SPRINTS - played Leftfield last year - I would love to see them get an early Woodsies or even Other stage next year to keep the momentum going.
Lambrini Girls - Played all over the place last year - hopefully means a lot of people caught them - be goof to get the same again
Man/Woman/Chainsaw - Really good mini album/EP out kind of act I can see popping up on the poster to a WHO! and then gather a load of momentum - Fans of Black Country New Road will love them. Just get them in wherever you can
Heartworms - technically its a solo act but will move straight past that - My personal feeling is that this might absolutely blow up - no album yet but the quality of the material is top tier - very new to the scene - but I hope festivals have noticed. Id hope for at least a BBC introducing slot. Maybe like Nova Twins where she does a BBC introcing slot so well received ended up on the Other Stage next time.
Divorce - popped up on an APE & Bearded Theory line ups, perhaps one of the acts gonna hit the festival season hard. Im not so sure on them yet myself need a bit more of a listen - kind of suspect they might appeal to the fans of Wet Leg & TLDP - So it might be interesting when there debut album comes out in March
The Meffs - Got a leftfield appearance written all over them
Nova Twins - Probably to big and well know for this thread now - but hey they are back with album 3 - They really jumped up in the stakes after the 2nd album but perhaps taken a little too long to follow up to strike while the iron was hot and it maybe started to cool - but Still are around next summer - and not being on the Download poster makes me think they might have opted for the G instead.
Sorry I did not put much in the way of musical descriptions - i figure more fun for people to try them for themselves.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit last night at the Apollo. Got a cheap resale ticket at last minute, main reason for going was i like the Drive by Truckers and Jason was a member when they did a couple of my favourite albums. Anyhoo no massive expectations but my word it was a great experience. He has a fine voice, a stellar band and some absolutely great tunes. Not sure how to define it, live, they are far more rockier than on record, epic guitar solo’s, and acoustic ballads all beefed up. Terrific stuff. Heartily recommend although i think they are at the end of their euro tour for this year.
